Month Summary:
Under the general direction of the Director of Communications or designee, performs assigned public information functions within the Claremore Public School District, and supports the Communications Department Director.

Position:
A. Serve as district journalist and storyteller, highlighting the people, purpose, and progress, with a focus on quality video storytelling and photography. B. Initiate, develop, produce, and edit creative, mission-driven videos, photos, graphics, and written content for the district communication channels (social media, website, e-newsletters and print media). C. Update, post, and create content for the district's communication platforms, providing assistance and training to school and program staff. D. Coordinate the district's social media strategy and implementation. E. Develop specific project communication plans, including production schedules. F. Have a positive customer service mindset. Maintain excellent relationships with students, administrators, teachers, other staff, parents and community members for the purpose of serving as a communications liaison for schools and programs. G. Manage multiple projects with various deadlines effectively. H. Write/edit for various audiences and purposes, including a community newsletter, staff newsletter, district website, marketing materials, news releases and other print materials.

Experience:
A college degree in a related area is preferred, and/or three years of professional-level experience with increasing levels of responsibility in strategic communications, marketing, or public relations.

Communications Specialist:
Knowledge of video production, digital graphics, web design, content management and social media.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and mathematical operations to essential functions of the position.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
A valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for travel within district boundaries are required. Multimedia certifications are a plus.
Physical Demands:
A. Ability to carry/lift up to 30 pounds. B. Requires standing, walking, talking, listening, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching. C. Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations. D. Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Work Environment:
A. Demonstrate success as a team player in a collaborative office space with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to adapt to changing situations. B. Perform duties effectively with frequent interruptions. C. Travel among District buildings and outside of the District occurs regularly. Primarily structured office hours but flexible during peak times and district events will require some evening and early morning assignments.
