Summary:
This position supports communications needs for the UNC School of Medicine Office of Research. The Communications Manager provides comprehensive communications and marketing support for the Office of Research and units within its infrastructure. This includes leading science storytelling strategy, internal and external communications, business to business communications, leadership support, events support, web content and more.
Responsibilities:
Develops and manages content in line with UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health guidance, supporting Office of Research business initiatives. Leads on science, research and innovation storytelling strategy for the School of Medicine, collaborating with colleagues across teams on best practices, guidance, and execution. Supports units with business-to-business needs, elevating SOM service offerings to industry. Collaborates with creative teammates in producing content (e.g., coordinating graphics, photography or videography). Collaborates with social media colleagues on strategy and analytics. Collaborates with media relations by helping with the creation of news pitches, responses to media inquiries, assisting in the preparation for news opportunities. Supports internal communications to staff and researchers.

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Science or related field.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
• Three (3) year of experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service skills.
