We equip families with basic necessities, connect them with ongoing therapeutic support, and advocate for community awareness to bridge the gaps in child welfare. Our close-knit team is made up of Child Development and Social Work professionals, former/current foster parents who are trained in trauma-informed care, and passionate child welfare advocates. We have two multi-use resource centers, one in Dripping Springs and one in North Austin. And we have affiliate locations throughout the U.S. We strive to be an inviting and safe space for everyone.

POSITION SUMMARY

Foster Village is looking for a warm, people-first Communications Specialist to help bring our stories, campaigns, and everyday moments to life across newsletters, social media, and visual content. This role reports to our Director of Communications and takes ownership of the writing and production that keeps our audiences, donors, volunteers, and caregivers, connected to the work. You'll turn strategy and a shared content calendar into finished, on-brand pieces people actually want to read and watch. It's a great fit for someone who's energized by people and stories alike, brings steady follow-through to everything they touch, and does their best work partnering with a supervisor who provides clear structure and high standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Writing Write and produce our newsletters, six sends a month across three distinct audiences (general and donor, volunteer, and caregiver), each with its own voice and structure Social & Visual Content Handle day-to-day social posting and captions across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn Design graphics in Canva, including reels, carousels, and post design, using Foster Village's brand templates and presets Edit photos in Lightroom, pulling from our Photos Inbox and uploading finished images back to our shared drive Handle video editing for social and other channels as needed Tag and thank partners and donors across our social channels Help explore what a Foster Village YouTube presence could look like, if we decide to pursue one Calendar & Campaigns Execute the tasks on our shared content calendar, which the Director of Communications maintains and prioritizes Bring day-to-day campaign content to life, from concept to finished post or send

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Strong, adaptable writing, with a voice that flexes across our general, volunteer, caregiver, and social media audiences while staying consistently Foster Village Warm, relational energy: you connect easily with people, and that comes through in how you write about them A good instinct for content: given a raw moment or detail, you can quickly recognize which of our content pillars it belongs to, advocacy, stories, volunteer and community engagement, caregiver education, or campaigns, and shape the right piece for it

Creativity:

you can take a small detail or a single bullet point and build it into a full story or piece A steady, reliable pace: you follow through on deadlines and keep the content calendar moving without needing to be chased Comfort taking clear direction and high standards from a supervisor, and turning that into strong, polished work Awareness of, or personal or professional experience with, foster care, kinship care, or child welfare, so you can write about this community with real understanding and care Visual skills in Lightroom and Canva; if you're newer to these, we have brand presets and templates already built to help you get up to speed Experience with social media platforms, Asana, Canva, and video editing is a plus Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time (40 hour/week) position with an annual salary range of $50,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience and skills.
