Job Description

CREATIVE COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Companions for Children has no shortage of stories to tell. What we need is someone with the creativity to spot them, the confidence to pitch an idea and the follow-through to turn that idea into finished content. Maybe you are always the person making the Reel, designing the invitation or running the group's social media. You are creative, but you are also organized. You think ahead, pay attention to details and get things done before they become last-minute emergencies. If that sounds like you, this might be your kind of job. This is a great opportunity for a college student who wants flexible, meaningful work while building a real-world portfolio. Your major does not need to be marketing or communications. You may also have a degree and professional experience, be returning to the workforce or be entirely self-taught. We welcome all of it. We're hiring the whole person: creativity, ambition, personality, reliability, results and the ability to finish what you start.
THE DETAILS
Position:
Regular part-time, hourly
Pay:
$15-$20 per hour, based on experience, portfolio and demonstrated skills
Hours:
Approximately 15 hours per week Home base: The Companions for Children office in downtown
Minot Schedule:
Flexible but consistent, with regular availability Monday through
Friday Events:
Approximately two evenings or weekends per month, included within regularly scheduled hours Our downtown office will be your home base, but this is not a sit-behind-a-desk-all-day kind of job. Some days you'll create alongside the team at the office. Other days you might capture video at a school, attend a community event or gather content for a fundraiser. We'll work with the selected candidate to create a consistent schedule around classes, school drop-off and pickup or other commitments. Hours will generally be spread throughout the workweek so you can stay connected with staff and keep projects moving.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Create engaging content for social media, including Reels, photos, graphics and written posts Capture photos and video at CFC programs, schools, fundraisers and community events Manage and schedule social media content and event pages Create flyers, signs, promotional pieces and other materials using Canva Help plan and carry out communications before, during and after major fundraisers Create and send monthly newsletters Complete routine website updates and keep public information current Recognize mentors, sponsors, donors and community partners Coordinate creative projects through completion, including proofreading, approvals and timely submission to print Maintain organized templates, photos, videos, logos and completed materials Adapt content for social media, email, web and print while maintaining a consistent CFC brand and voice Support additional creative and organizational projects as prioritized during weekly planning Attend approximately two evening or weekend events each month to capture timely content
PLANNING & TEAMWORK
This is not a position where you'll wait for someone to hand you every idea. You'll come prepared to a weekly meeting with the Executive Director to pitch content ideas, present upcoming projects and recommend what CFC should try next. The CFC team will share upcoming programs, campaigns, fundraisers and organizational priorities that need communications support. Together, we'll decide what moves forward. You'll take ownership of approved projects, identify what you need from staff and keep the work moving within your scheduled hours.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR A
degree or professional experience in marketing, communications, graphic design or a related field is welcome, but
NOT REQUIRED.
We will place significant value on your portfolio, demonstrated results, initiative, reliability and how you work with others. The right person for this role is: Creative and full of ideas Organized and able to think ahead Reliable and consistent Comfortable pitching ideas and receiving feedback Willing to follow up and ask for what is needed Able to manage multiple deadlines without waiting until the last minute Detail-oriented enough to catch an incorrect date, name, logo or link Comfortable balancing creativity with efficiency Excited to learn, experiment and improve based on results Collaborative, approachable and comfortable being part of a small team Maybe you have years of professional experience. Maybe you create great TikToks, make graphics for a student organization, manage social media for a club or became the unofficial content person everywhere you go. We want to see what you can do. You should be comfortable with social media, Canva, basic video editing and writing clear, engaging content. You should also have good judgment, strong communication skills and the ability to finish what you start. Because this position involves youth programs, the selected candidate must complete a background check and follow all privacy, confidentiality and media-release requirements. We'll teach you CFC's programs, platforms, brand and processes. You bring creativity, ambition, reliability and the desire to make an impact.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send the following for review: A résumé or short summary of your experience A quick introduction explaining why this sounds like a good fit Two or three examples of Canva, design or other visual work Two or three examples of Reels, TikToks or short-form videos One or two examples of captions, emails or other written content Links to any accounts you have created content for, including your own if you are comfortable sharing them For each creative example, briefly tell us: What you personally created Who it was created for Which tools you used Approximately how long it took Whether you started with a template Whether anyone else contributed Any results or engagement you can share Professional experience is not required.
