Job Description
- Senior Pittsburgh, PA Posted 2 days ago Apply Now UPMC is looking for a Data Communication Specialist Senior to join their team. This position is Hybrid and will be on-site four to five days per week however at times will allow opportunities to work from home. Description The Data Communication Specialist
- Senior provides maintenance and support for data communications equipment and systems across UPMC facilities, affiliated business units, and physician sites.
- Senior works closely with UPMC departments, business units, ISD teams, and other telecommunications resources to support business objectives, resolve problems, and coordinate technical activities.
Responsibilities:
Apply and communicate knowledge of network topologies, hardware, and communication protocols to troubleshoot basic network issues. Coordinate the design, sizing, installation, support, and troubleshooting of LAN, WAN, WLAN, voice and data networks, cabling, and related hardware to meet UPMC client and project requirements. Provide Level II ISD and after-hours on-call support for issues escalated by the NOC; coordinate with UPMC personnel and vendors through resolution; communicate status updates; and follow applicable policies, procedures, service-level agreements, and leadership directives. Create, maintain, publish, and distribute approved network documentation for UPMC facilities and assigned projects, including photographs, wiring closet configurations, hardware cross-connections, procedures, standards, and troubleshooting guides. Manage specialized network service requests and business-hours support within established service levels; conduct site surveys; coordinate service and delivery requirements; advise clients on cabling and network infrastructure standards; communicate progress and lead times; and protect data integrity and confidentiality. Keep the project manager informed of project status, schedule variances, and unresolved issues. Record time spent on projects, initiatives, and service requests in accordance with ISD and Enterprise Communications Group policies. Qualifications Typically has 5+ years of data communications infrastructure design and support experience. Mastery of the essential knowledge base for an IT professional.Must possess ability to:
o Proficiently apply IT methods, professional knowledge, and UPMC standards and practices. Intuitively grasp familiar, stable system performance situations. o Respond to unfamiliar, undefined, unexpected, or unstable situations with the professionally prescribed standard response. o Recognize subtle problems with system design or performance and act appropriately to improve the condition, seeking validation of actions in advance as appropriate. o Maintain effective relationships with business partners, professional peers, and other team members. o Coach less experienced IT professionals. Complete on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities. o Demonstrate thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the IT professional disciplines (i.e., Applications, Business Analysis, Customer Service, Data, Networking, Operations, Security, Systems Engineering, etc.) and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a particular UPMC department or function.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
