SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting Bethesda Mission's communications through content development, storytelling, social media, website content, and print and digital materials. This position works closely with staff across the Mission to identify and share stories of ministry impactand supports the Development team with communications for events, campaigns, and other organizationalinitiatives. The Specialist also coordinates with outside agency and creative partners as needed.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and coordinates content that tells the story of Bethesda Mission and communicates the impact of its ministries, including written stories, photography, video, and other digital and print content, while protecting the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of Bethesda Mission guests and ensuring appropriate permissions are obtained. Develops strong working relationships with Ministry Directors and staff across Bethesda Mission to identify stories, ministry activities, events, and other opportunities for communication. Manages Bethesda Mission's social media presence, including content planning, creation, scheduling, publishing, engagement, and analytics. Maintains and updates website content and supports other digital communications to ensure information is current, accurate, engaging, and consistent with Bethesda Mission's messaging. Supports email communications by gathering and developing content, coordinating internal information and assets, and working with Bethesda Mission's outside agency partner as needed. Creates and coordinates marketing and communications materials and helps ensure consistent use of Bethesda Mission's brand and messaging across print and digital communications Provides communications and promotional support for Development campaigns, events, volunteer initiatives, and other organizational priorities. This position supports fundraising communications but does not have responsibility for fundraising strategy, solicitation, or donor management. Coordinates communications projects with outside agencies, designers, printers, photographers, videographers, and other vendors as needed. Maintains communications calendars, content and digital assets, and tracks key communications results to support planning and continuous improvement. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Provides a biblically sound testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and leads a life worthy of that profession. Actively engages in private and corporate prayer, Bible study, regular church attendance, and holy living. Agrees with and carries out responsibilities in accordance with the Mission's policies, Bethesda Mission Directives, Code of Conduct, Statement of Faith, Value Statement and Narratives, and Mission Statement. Committed to serving the poor and homeless. Possesses a Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, graphic design, or a related field, with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, supporters, and the public. Demonstrates experience or proficiency in digital communications, including social media, website content, and the creation of print and digital communications materials. Possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while working collaboratively with staff across the Mission and with outside partners. Demonstrates creative and visual communication skills. Experience with graphic design, photography, and video content creation is preferred. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently toward meeting assigned responsibilities and organizational goals.

Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and travels to other Mission facilities as required. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. Interacts with staff, visitors, etc., under all conditions/circumstances. May be required to work extended periods of time at a computer requiring repetitive motion. Infrequent light physical effort required. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support Mission events and activities.
