The Divisions of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Pediatric Pulmonary, Sleep, and Asthma Medicine, and Quality of Life and Pediatric Palliative Care are seeking a Temporary Communications Specialist to lead the development and execution of digital strategies to enhance the visibility, engagement, and brand presence of the three divisions. This role will oversee content creation, social media management, stakeholder engagement, website management, and internal/external communications. The ideal candidate is a creative, strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling, and data driven decision making. This is a 6 month temporary and hybrid position with an expectation to be onsite at least 2x a week. The Division is a growing team, including long-tenured faculty, staff, and leadership. The division's activities reach all parts of the mission: patient care, education, and research. The Temp Communications Specialist will have a great deal of exposure to all these areas and will be communicating with a broad range of individuals at the executive level, both internally and externally. Within the Division, there is a strong operations team of about 30 people. html Duties include:
Newsletters Maintain the existing newsletter schedule for all three divisions using Constant Contact. Update templates and recurring sections; collect and import content; check links; test, obtain approvals, schedule, and send newsletters. Monitor newsletter submission forms and manage time-sensitive placements according to established deadlines and approval processes. Websites and distribution lists Complete routine updates in AEM and Stanford Sites, prioritizing event pages, registration information, faculty and staff pages, programs, and other time-sensitive content. Support communications-related onboarding and offboarding updates for faculty and staff. Monitor distribution-list requests; make routine membership and moderator changes; create new lists using documented procedures; and escalate access, ownership, or policy issues. Communications support Provide agreed-upon promotional support for events, including newsletter placements, social posts, website updates, email reminders, and post-event highlights. Maintain communications calendars, content and website trackers, and event records so deadlines, owners, assets, approvals, and statuses remain clear. Triage incoming communications requests, gather approvals and assets, route items to the appropriate owner, and flag risks or conflicts early. Social media Maintain a consistent presence across division channels, prioritizing events, faculty accomplishments, research highlights, division news, and time-sensitive announcements. Use the established content calendar and evergreen content bank to prepare and schedule routine posts and coordinate required copy and assets. Maintain basic performance reporting and regularly coordinate with Stanford Children's Marketing to identify news and cross-promotion opportunities. Escalate sensitive topics, media requests, urgent announcements, and reputation concerns through established channels.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
(REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree and minimum 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
