ESSENCE is a character-driven short film about self-worth, disability, faith, and the courage to be seen. Essence Whitaker is a gifted Black Atlanta radio host, writer, jazz lover, woman of faith, and wheelchair user who inspires others to recognize their worth while privately struggling to recognize her own. When fear leads her to use another woman's photograph while online dating, she forms a genuine connection with Dexter, a thoughtful poet who values honesty. As their relationship deepens, Essence must confront the truth she has been hiding—and the deeper belief that she is not enough. ESSENCE explores identity, vulnerability, forgiveness, and learning that true worth begins within.
