Communication Director 32 hrs/week | $25/hour About Us Pullen Memorial Baptist Church is a justice-oriented faith community in the heart of downtown Raleigh, dedicated to the worship of God, service to our community, and fostering human connection. We're looking for a creative, organized storyteller to help us share our congregation's life and ministry with our members and the wider community. The Role The Communication Director manages Pullen Memorial's internal and external communication — from print materials and email to our website, videos, and social media. You'll be the steward of our brand voice and visual identity, producing the content that keeps our congregation informed and connected and that introduces our church to the broader community. This is a part-time position (32 hours per week, $25/hour) reporting to the Church Administrator, working cooperatively with staff across the church. What You'll Do Publications
  • Manage and maintain PMBC's branding and logo
  • Design and produce church publications, including The Week Ahead weekly worship guide insert, brochures, and seasonal materials Digital Communications
  • Manage, maintain, and update the PMBC website
  • Design and send weekly emails, monthly newsletters, brochures, flyers, and other digital materials
  • Monitor analytics across channels, track trends, and set goals to grow visibility
  • Maintain the new member profile board and content on digital displays around campus
  • Support special projects as needed Social Media
  • Manage all digital-media assets, software, and platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube)
  • Create and publish all posts to official church accounts
  • Moderate user-generated content to ensure it's appropriate and relevant Other Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with AV technicians and the technology team to maintain livestream quality
  • Recruit, lead, and manage volunteers supporting the communication strategy
  • Maintain the Communications and Technology Procedure Manual
  • Maintain the church's photography and image portfolio
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and staff events
  • Meet weekly with the Church Administrator
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Church Administrator What We're Looking For
  • Degree in communication, media, public relations, or a related field preferred — or a minimum of 2 years' experience
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout, and design skills
  • Proven ability to see projects through from start to finish
  • An organized, creative thinker committed to improvement and open to feedback
  • Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with church members and staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment, including with sensitive information Preferred proficiencies Squarespace or WordPress
