Multimedia and Digital Services Specialist New York Association of Towns Albany, NY Job Details Full-time $40,000 - $43,500 a year 6 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Teamwork Collaboration Organizational skills Production management Marketing analytics Full Job Description The New York Association of Towns (NYAOT) is seeking a creative, organized and motivated Multimedia & Digital Services Specialist to join its communications team in Albany, N.Y. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Member Engagement , the Multimedia & Digital Services Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day creation, production, management and distribution of NYAOT's visual, audio and digital content. The position will help bring the Association's programs, advocacy, training, events and member stories to life across digital and social platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong visual storyteller who can move comfortably between photography, videography, podcast production and social media. This person should be able to work independently, meet deadlines, collaborate with staff and subject-matter experts, and understand how to turn complex municipal issues into clear, engaging and professional content. The specialist will work within the communications strategy, priorities and messaging established by the Director of Communications and Member Engagement.
Responsibilities include:
Podcast & Audio Production Coordinate twice-monthly podcast production schedules, including guest communication, recording logistics and production calendars. Record, edit, produce and publish NYAOT twice-monthly podcast episodes and related promotional content. Develop promotional materials and social media content to support podcast distribution and audience growth. Photography & Videography Plan, capture, edit and produce high-quality photography and video content for Association programs, events, conferences, training programs, advocacy efforts, member communications and marketing initiatives. Capture and produce real-time event content for social media and other digital platforms. Develop short-form and long-form video content, including interviews, promotional videos, educational content, event recaps and member features. Manage the Association's photo, video and multimedia asset library, including organization, metadata, storage and archival practices. Social Media & Digital Content Maintain and update digital content across Association platforms. Create compelling and platform-appropriate photo, video, audio and multimedia content that advances NYAOT's communications and member engagement goals. Identify opportunities to translate Association programs, events, legislative activity, member stories and organizational initiatives into engaging digital content. Support the execution of NYAOT's content pillar strategy under the direction of the Director of Communications and Member Engagement. Work with the Director of Communications and Member Engagement to develop and maintain content calendars and coordinate content across platforms. Events & A/V Coordinate and support audio/visual needs for NYAOT meetings, conferences, trainings, events and other programs. Provide on-site photography, videography and digital content support as needed. Maintain and organize Association-owned multimedia and A/V equipment. Brand, Messaging & Collaboration Maintain NYAOT's visual brand standards across photography, video, social media and other digital content. Translate approved Association messaging and communications priorities into effective visual and digital content. Work closely with the Director of Communications and Member Engagement to ensure multimedia and digital content supports broader Association communications and marketing strategies. Collaborate with Association staff and subject-matter experts to develop accurate, engaging and audience-appropriate content. Obtain appropriate review and approval of content when required and ensure published materials are consistent with Association priorities, messaging and professional standards. Analytics & Continuous Improvement Track and report on social media and digital engagement metrics. Develop regular reports and recommendations related to audience growth, engagement and content performance. Use analytics and audience insights to recommend adjustments to content, timing, formats and distribution strategies. Stay current on emerging digital platforms, multimedia production techniques and social media best practices. Other Support the Director of Communications and Member Engagement and other Association leadership on communications and marketing initiatives as assigned. Perform other responsibilities as necessary or assigned. Professional Expectations The successful candidate will demonstrate: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Discretion and professionalism when working with elected officials, public officials, members, partners and external stakeholders. An understanding of the importance of accuracy, consistency, accessibility and brand integrity in public-facing communications. The ability to take complex or technical subject matter and make it accessible and engaging for a broad audience. Occasional evening, weekend or overnight work and travel may be required in connection with Association conferences, events and other programs. The salary range is $40,000 to $43,500 , dependent upon qualifications, experience and education.
