Richmond's #1 news operation, 12 On Your Side, seeks a versatile, full-time hybrid Digital Content Producer and Newscast Editor. This is a unique hybrid role designed for a storyteller who excels in both traditional television production and digital media. You will split your week between two core functions: 1. Newscast Video Editor (2 days a week): Editing high-quality, fast-paced video content, reporter packages, and audio under tight deadlines for our television newscasts. 2. Digital Content Producer (3 days a week): Writing SEO-optimized news stories for 12onyourside.com and our mobile apps, managing social media channels, and producing/reporting content for our streaming channels. Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Television Video Editing:
Edit video elements, soundbites, and full packages for live television newscasts. Ensure high technical standards and speed under tight live-news deadlines.Digital News Writing & Publishing:
Write, update, and publish local news stories, headlines, and breaking news alerts for the station website and news app.Social Media & Streaming:
Manage and publish engaging content across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and help produce/stream live or recorded news/feature content for our digital streaming channels (Roku, website, app).- Qualified candidates must demonstrate leadership skills, have a college degree, and have digital and social media experience.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Professional experience with video editing software (e.g., Edius, Adobe Premiere, or similar).
- Proven ability to write clean, accurate news copy on tight deadlines under minimal supervision.
- Strong grasp of digital publishing, social media platform strategies, and SEO best practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to collaborate across broadcast and digital teams.
- College degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
