Resume Cover letter References (minimum of three) Purpose of Position Under the general supervision of the Manager of IT Performance and Risk Management, the Accessibility Compliance Lead is responsible for ensuring compliance of Electronic Information Resource (EIR) content procured, created, and developed by UTA staff and faculty against requirements prescribed by state and federal regulations. Develops, implements, and maintains the University's EIR accessibility policy and procedures. Serves as the state-designated EIRAC, as defined by the Texas Department of Information Resources. Acts as UTA's central point of contact for all EIR accessibility issues and solutions. Essential Functions EIR Accessibility Coordinator for the
University:
Creates and directs the institution's EIR Accessibility Program for institution-wide compliance with digital accessibility requirements, including ADA, Section 504, Section 508, WCAG 2.1, ATAG 2.0, UAAG 1.0, and
WAI-ARIA.
Monitors and reports on compliance, conducts accessibility analysis, and leads efforts to establish accessibility standards. Leads the development of training, planning, policy, and assessment activities for digital accessibility. Corrective Actions -
Web & Digital Content:
Develops critical relationships and collaboration to provide guidance on corrective action plans for inaccessible websites, electronic information resources (EIR), applications, or products. Directs support and accessibility training for web developers and digital content providers. Partners with the Legal Office to interpret policy for students, personnel, and stakeholders and to advise on EIR accessibility criteria.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Develops, implements, and maintains a process to manage reported inaccessible University web content, electronic and information resources, applications, or products. Creates reports and coordinates meetings regarding the status and processes for improving web and digital content accessibility, including the processing of EIR Accessibility Exception (EAE) forms. Compiles and reports on the accessibility program's status for the state's IRDR requirement every two years.
Best Practices and Education:
Recommends best practices for EIR accessibility for new and existing technologies, including software, hardware, web-based applications, and documents. Duties include establishing and continually developing the framework, resources, communications, and processes for university web development and digital content accessibility. Identifies EIR accessibility training needs across the institution and develops training plans to meet those needs. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years of related experience in accessibility compliance support for EIR or seven (7) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced knowledge of prevailing state and federal accessibility regulations, such as ADA Title
II, WCAG 2.1, TAC
213, and TAC 206. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in educational technology, computer technology, or a related field. Direct responsibility for EIR accessibility compliance within a higher education environment. Extensive knowledge and experience with accessible web design, principles of Universal Design, and understanding of accessibility issues related to emerging web technologies, multimedia, and learning environments. Experience with HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, XML, ARIA, and other web content management systems. Demonstrated experience developing custom accessibility solutions in a complex technology environment. Professional accessibility certifications, e.g., IAAP, TXDLA, APAC-BE.
