We need a sharp editorial leader who thrives during breaking news, appreciates data-driven analysis, wants to grow our digital audience and footprint, and feels passionately about the power and evolution of local news. This is a key leadership role that oversees the daily operations and visual presentation of WKOW.com and the 27 News Now app. You'll work with reporters, anchors, and producers on best practices for digital content and manage the workflow to ensure accurate, swift, high-quality content on web, mobile, and social media. Here's what you'll do and what we need:
Digital Strategy & Leadership:
Direct the newsroom's daily digital workflow, curate the homepage/app, and mentor staff on digital best practices.Hands-On Content Creation:
Write, edit, and publish web articles, breaking news push alerts, social posts, and livestreams under tight deadlines.Team Collaboration & Coaching:
Partner with anchors and reporters to produce high-performing native digital content while enforcing station standards, including AP Style.Analytics & Cross-Department Planning:
Monitor digital performance metrics to refine content strategy and collaborate with Sales and Marketing on revenue-generating campaigns. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or another related field and at least two years of digital media experience with a proven track record of sound news judgment. Preferred candidates will have demonstrated professional leadership experience.
