Full-Time About the Position Skylar Racing, Inc. is seeking an experienced Shipping Team Manager to oversee our high-volume e-commerce shipping and fulfillment operation. We process and ship a large volume of video games, consoles, handheld systems, controllers, accessories, collectibles, and other gaming merchandise to customers across the country. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for managing our shipping team, maintaining shipping accuracy, meeting daily fulfillment deadlines, improving efficiency, and ensuring orders leave our facility correctly and on time. We are looking for someone with previous shipping, fulfillment, warehouse, or logistics management experience who is comfortable leading a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The right person will take ownership of the shipping department and continuously look for ways to make it faster, more accurate, better organized, and more efficient. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee all daily shipping and fulfillment operations Lead, train, supervise, and develop shipping team employees Assign employees to shipping stations and responsibilities based on daily workload Establish daily priorities and production goals Monitor employee productivity, accuracy, attendance, and quality of work Ensure customer orders are picked, packed, labeled, and shipped accurately Ensure all orders are processed within required shipping deadlines Monitor on-time shipping and carrier scan performance Verify correct products are being matched to customer orders Ensure proper packaging methods are used to prevent products from being damaged during transit Develop packaging standards for different product types Oversee shipping of video game consoles, handhelds, games, controllers, accessories, collectibles, and other electronics Ensure employees use appropriate boxes, mailers, protective materials, and shipping supplies Maintain organization of shipping stations and packing areas Ensure shipping supplies remain properly stocked Coordinate with warehouse and inventory teams to resolve missing or incorrect items Investigate shipping errors, missing orders, incorrect shipments, and fulfillment discrepancies Identify recurring shipping errors and implement processes to prevent them Monitor shipping volume and adjust staffing or workflows as necessary Identify bottlenecks within the shipping process Develop and implement processes to increase shipping speed and accuracy Create, improve, document, and enforce shipping Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Maintain quality-control procedures throughout the fulfillment process Hold employees accountable for performance and workplace expectations Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new shipping employees Coordinate with ownership and other managers regarding staffing, order volume, performance, and operational issues Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional shipping department Take ownership of the overall performance of the shipping operation Required Experience & Qualifications Previous experience managing or supervising a shipping, fulfillment, warehouse, distribution, or logistics team is required.
Candidates should have:
Proven experience managing employees in a shipping or fulfillment environment Experience with high-volume order fulfillment Strong leadership and employee-management skills Experience tracking employee productivity and department performance Strong understanding of shipping and fulfillment workflows Experience with picking, packing, labeling, and order verification Knowledge of proper packaging techniques Experience working with shipping carriers such as USPS, UPS, and FedEx Understanding of shipping labels, tracking numbers, carrier scans, and shipment statuses Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent problem-solving abilities Strong attention to detail Ability to identify and correct process inefficiencies Ability to prioritize large numbers of orders and meet strict deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic computer skills and ability to learn shipping and inventory software Ability to operate independently without requiring constant supervision Education Bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant field such as: Supply Chain Management Logistics and Transportation Operations Management Business Administration Business Management Industrial Engineering Industrial Technology Distribution Management E-Commerce Management Information Systems Or another related field Candidates with an Associate's degree combined with significant shipping, fulfillment, logistics, or warehouse management experience may also be considered. Relevant professional certifications in supply chain management, logistics, Lean, Six Sigma, inventory management, distribution, or warehouse operations are a plus. Preferred Experience Additional experience in any of the following areas is highly desirable: High-volume e-commerce fulfillment E-commerce marketplaces Video game or electronics fulfillment Consumer electronics Warehouse management Distribution centers Shipping and receiving Inventory management Order-management systems Shipping software Carrier claims and shipping discrepancies Returns and reverse logistics Quality control Employee productivity tracking Process improvement Lean or Six Sigma methodologies Video Game Knowledge Because of the products we handle, familiarity with video games and gaming hardware is preferred. Candidates should ideally be comfortable working with products such as: Nintendo consoles and handhelds PlayStation consoles and handhelds Xbox consoles Sega and other retro gaming systems Physical video games Controllers Gaming accessories Collectibles Consumer electronics Extensive collector-level knowledge is not required, but familiarity with gaming products can significantly help with identifying products, preventing shipping errors, and understanding proper packaging requirements. Performance & Accountability This position is responsible for the overall performance of the shipping department. The Shipping Team Manager will be expected to monitor and improve key areas including: Orders shipped per day Orders shipped per employee/hour On-time shipment rate Carrier scan compliance Shipping accuracy Incorrect-item shipment rate Packaging quality Shipping damage rate Employee productivity Order backlog Shipping supply usage Overall department efficiency The goal is not simply to get packages out the door. The goal is to build a shipping operation that is fast, accurate, organized, measurable, and scalable. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is organized, accountable, hands-on, analytical, and comfortable leading a team in a fast-moving environment. The right person should be able to walk into the shipping department, assess the day's workload, establish priorities, assign employees appropriately, and make sure every order is processed correctly and on time. We want a manager who actively looks for problems before they become bigger problems. If shipping volume increases, you should be thinking about staffing and throughput. If errors increase, you should be determining why. If a process is slowing employees down, you should be looking for a better process. You should be comfortable making decisions, solving problems, tracking performance, coaching employees, and holding your team accountable. Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate combines: Formal education in logistics, supply chain, operations, business, or a related field Proven shipping or fulfillment management experience Experience managing a high-volume operation Strong people-management and leadership skills Excellent attention to detail Experience with shipping carriers and fulfillment systems Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities A process-improvement mindset Familiarity with video games and consumer electronics The ability to manage a team while remaining hands-on with daily operations This is an opportunity for someone who wants to take real ownership of a high-volume shipping department and play an important role in improving and scaling our fulfillment operation.
