Overview The Marketing Intern plays an important role in promoting the theatre, its events, and its mission while supporting the overall guest experience. This position is ideal for a creative, organized, and outgoing individual interested in gaining hands-on experience in entertainment marketing, social media, event promotion, graphic design, and community engagement. The Marketing Intern will assist with the development and execution of marketing initiatives for live performances, movies, community events, and other theatre programming. Duties include creating and scheduling social media content, assisting with email and digital marketing, distributing promotional materials, updating in-house signage and displays, supporting event promotions, and assisting management with marketing and administrative projects. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced entertainment environment.
Essential Functions Social Media & Content Creation:
Assist with creating engaging content for the theatre's social media platforms, including event promotions, photos, videos, reels, stories, behind-the-scenes content, and other creative campaigns. Help maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across platforms.
Event Marketing & Promotion:
Assist with marketing upcoming concerts, comedy shows, movies, community events, and other programming. Help prepare promotional materials and ensure event information, dates, times, ticket links, and other details are accurate across marketing channels.
Email & Digital Marketing:
Assist with developing and preparing promotional emails, event announcements, newsletters, and other digital communications.
Graphic Design & Promotional Materials:
Assist with creating and updating posters, flyers, digital graphics, advertisements, menus, signage, and other promotional materials using existing theatre branding and templates. Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design programs is a plus.
Website & Event Listings:
Assist with updating event information, promotional copy, photos, ticket links, and other content on the theatre website and third-party event listings as needed.
Print Marketing & Distribution:
Assist with distribution of show posters, brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials throughout the theatre and local community.
Photography & Video:
Assist with capturing photos and short-form video content during events, performances, setup, and other theatre activities for use in social media and future marketing campaigns.
Community Outreach:
Assist with identifying opportunities to promote theatre events through local businesses, community organizations, tourism partners, media outlets, and other community relationships.
Guest Experience:
Interact professionally and positively with guests, artists, vendors, community partners, and staff.
Marketing Research:
Conduct research on entertainment trends, social media trends, local events, audiences, advertising opportunities, and potential promotional partnerships.
Administrative Support:
Assist the Marketing Manager and General Manager with marketing projects, reporting, research, data entry, organization, and other administrative functions as assigned.
Event Support:
Assist theatre staff during select events, promotions, special events, and community activities as needed. This may include event setup, promotional displays, merchandise, guest engagement, and post-event breakdown. Other proficiencies include the ability to communicate and work effectively with guests, supervisors, peers, vendors, artists, and community partners in a high-volume setting. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, basic computer skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must be 18 or older. Must be dependable and able to work independently when assigned projects. Must be comfortable working occasional evenings and weekends based on the theatre's event schedule. Must be able to lift and carry marketing materials, signage, and event supplies as needed. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time internship with a flexible schedule based on theatre programming, marketing needs, and the intern's school schedule when applicable. Some availability during evenings and weekends may be required to assist with events, capture social media content, and support special promotions. Preferred Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. Current enrollment in or recent completion of a college program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Business, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred but not required. Interest in marketing, social media, entertainment, live events, hospitality, or community engagement. Experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design programs is a plus. Basic photography and video editing skills are a plus. Ability to work with computers and navigate online programs including Microsoft Office, Excel, email marketing platforms, social media platforms, and web-based applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to spelling, grammar, and accuracy.
