Job Description
Marketing Manager PGS Gold & Coin | Palatine, IL | Full-Time | The short version We're a small but growing family-owned precious metals and collectibles company with five Chicago-area stores, a traveling roadshow event operation, and a growing e-commerce business. We're hiring one person to own the marketing that brings customers through our doors. This is not a support role. You will run our local and traditional marketing end to end — paid search, social, direct mail, radio, local SEO, and community partnerships — across five locations and a roadshow calendar. You'll have a real budget, real decision authority, and the freedom to build the department and systems the way they should be built. If you want to inherit a mature marketing org and optimize it 3%, this isn't it. If you want to own a P&L-visible function at a company small enough that your work is obviously yours, keep reading. What you'd actually own Store and roadshow demand generation. Google Ads, Meta, Yelp, and Bing across Palatine, Schaumburg, Wheaton, Villa Park, and Glen Ellyn — plus campaign builds for roadshow events in new markets. We have a defined campaign structure already mapped by location and product category. Your job is to run it, improve it, and expand it. Local search. Google Business Profile optimization across all five locations, local SEO, review generation, keyword and competitor research. Our stores compete on "who shows up when someone Googles 'sell gold near me.'" That's a winnable fight and it's yours. Traditional media and vendors. Direct mail, print, and radio. You'll manage the vendors, negotiate the buys, approve the creative, and tell us honestly which channels are worth the spend and which aren't. Measurement. Own the reporting. Tell us what a customer costs to acquire by channel and location, and make the case for where the next dollar goes. Creative direction. You'll produce day-to-day assets using the design and creative tools you work best in and direct freelancers for heavier production. You are not expected to be a full-time designer — but you should be comfortable getting something out the door yourself when it needs to happen today. How this role fits You report to the Director of Digital Marketing & E-Commerce , who owns our online storefront, Google Merchant Center, and the national bullion and rare-coin buyer channel. You own the customer walking into a store or a roadshow. That's a clear line, and we mean it — the local, retail, and community side of the business is your call to make. You'll coordinate closely on brand consistency and shared platforms, but you are not waiting on approvals to run your channels. What we're honestly looking for 5+ years in marketing with hands-on campaign ownership. Agency, multi-location retail, or another small business where you did the work yourself — all count. Direct experience managing Google Ads and Meta Ads budgets and being accountable for the results. Working knowledge of SEO, Google Business Profile, and local search . Comfort in Google Analytics, Search Console , and a research tool like SEMrush or Ahrefs. Experience managing vendors and budgets — you've held someone accountable to a media buy before. Enough design and creative production fluency to independently create, edit, and prepare professional marketing assets across digital and print channels. . Genuine comfort operating without a rigid structure. We will not be assigning you daily tasks. We'll agree on goals and expect you to figure out the path. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
