De Soto Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Council (EDC) De Soto, Kansas | Full-Time or Flexible Reduced Schedule Reports to: Chamber CEO About the Role The De Soto Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Council is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as Events & Marketing Manager. This role leads the planning and execution of Chamber and EDC events and programs and manages marketing and communication that supports member engagement and organizational priorities. From coordinating signature events to developing content and highlighting our members, this position brings together event management, marketing, and relationship building. Working closely with the Chamber CEO and EDC President, the Events & Marketing Manager will take ownership of assigned events, marketing initiatives, and projects from planning through completion while collaborating with staff, members, and community partners. Events & Programs Plan and execute Chamber and EDC events from beginning to end, including logistics, vendors, speakers, registration, sponsors, volunteers, promotion, on-site execution, and follow-up. Proactively identify opportunities to improve events and programs and implement changes that enhance the member and attendee experience. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and committees to develop and implement programs that support organizational priorities. Marketing & Communications Develop and manage marketing plans and promotional timelines for Chamber and EDC events, programs, membership initiatives, and organizational priorities. Create timely, engaging content for social media, e-newsletters, blogs, the website, and promotional materials, including photos, videos, and reels. Manage Chamber and EDC communications across digital platforms, ensuring content is accurate, professional, timely, and consistent with the organization's brand and voice. Identify and develop opportunities to promote members, events, programs, partnerships, and organizational initiatives. Relationships & Engagement Build strong relationships with Chamber members, EDC investors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners. Serve as a welcoming and professional presence at Chamber and EDC events and throughout the community. Support member engagement efforts and facilitate opportunities for businesses and professionals to connect. Operations & Coordination Manage the behind-the-scenes details that support successful events and marketing efforts, including registrations, invoicing, database updates, sponsorship fulfillment, recordkeeping, incoming inquiries, and post-event follow-up. Assist with event budgets and track event revenue and expenses in collaboration with the CEO. Contribute to the day-to-day work of the Chamber and EDC as part of a collaborative, small-team environment. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is an organized, creative, and relationship-oriented professional who can manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail. This position requires someone who takes initiative, follows through on commitments, works effectively both independently and collaboratively, and is comfortable moving projects from idea to execution.
Preferred qualifications include:
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify solutions, and independently move projects from planning through completion while collaborating effectively with others. Strong organizational, project-management, written, and verbal communication skills. Experience creating content for social media and digital platforms. An outgoing, professional approach and an interest in building relationships. The ability to contribute ideas and solutions, collaborate with others, and carry projects from planning through completion. Experience with CRM/database systems, email marketing, website management, Canva or similar tools, and basic financial tracking is a plus. Schedule, Compensation & Benefits This position may be structured as full-time or as a reduced schedule of approximately 25-32 hours per week, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications. A consistent work schedule will be established at the time of hire. Occasional early morning and evening availability is required for Chamber and EDC events. Benefits may include a health stipend, paid time off, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement, and IRA contributions based on employment status and schedule. Interested?
