Job Description
Director of Marketing & Brand Experience Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club | Powell, Ohio $70,000 to $85,000 annually, based on experience and portfolio Full Time | On Site Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club is looking for a creative, energetic and highly engaged Director of Marketing & Brand Experience . This is not a traditional 9 to 5 marketing job, and it is definitely not a position for someone who wants to spend every day behind a desk. Kinsale is a busy, active private club filled with golf, fitness, dining, swimming, family activities, children's programming, social events and celebrations. Our marketing should feel just as alive as the club itself. This is an on site position and is not eligible for remote work. That's important because we don't believe you can effectively tell our story without being here to experience it. We want our Marketing & Brand Experience Director immersed in the club. Walk through the restaurant. Stop by the pool. See what's happening on the golf course. Talk with our fitness instructors. Get to know our bartenders and servers. Meet our members and their families. See the kids racing into an event they're excited about. Notice the little moments that make great photos, videos and stories. Some of the best marketing ideas happen because you were there to see something, hear something or talk with someone. What does that mean? When we host our family campout on the 18th fairway, marketing isn't just sending an email or making an Instagram post. We might set up a tent and fake campfire in the club entrance so every child who walks through the door starts asking their parents about the campout. We create buttons for employees to wear promoting upcoming events. We use table tents, signs and displays throughout the clubs. Our fitness instructors talk about upcoming activities. Our bartenders and servers help spread the word. We use social media, email, our websites and a quarterly member magazine to tell our story. The Director of Marketing & Brand Experience is the person who helps bring all of that together. You will tell our story You will lead social media content and engagement across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn, while helping us determine where platforms such as TikTok fit into our future. You'll capture photos and video around the club, sometimes with your phone or wearable technology and sometimes alongside our professional photographer. You'll recognize the moments worth sharing and understand how to turn them into content that makes people want to participate. You will manage and schedule member email communications and help lead content for our websites. We are preparing to launch new websites for both Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club and Scioto Reserve Country Club, with similar navigation because many of our members enjoy both clubs. You'll help make those websites current, useful, visually appealing and reflective of what is actually happening inside our clubs. Design is a major part of the job We create a lot. Event promotions. Signs. Posters. Digital graphics. Email communications. Social media content. Membership materials. Table tents. Displays. Promotional pieces. And sometimes things we haven't thought of yet. We primarily work in Canva and increasingly use tools such as ChatGPT to help our team work smarter and faster. You don't need to be someone who insists on doing everything the way it was done five years ago. In fact, we would rather you didn't. Our marketing has continually evolved. What worked when our clubs opened isn't necessarily what works today, and what works today may not be what works three years from now. We want someone curious enough to keep pushing us forward. You will own our quarterly magazine Several times each year we publish a roughly 36 to 50 page member magazine. The publication and basic layout already exist, and department managers provide much of the written content. Your job is to coordinate the process, gather the material, manage deadlines, update the publication and make sure everything comes together professionally and on time.
Fair warning:
getting busy department managers to turn in articles on schedule can occasionally resemble herding cats. You need to be comfortable being the person who keeps everyone moving. You need to get out of the office Some of your best marketing opportunities won't happen at your desk. They'll happen at the pool, on the golf course, in the restaurant, inside the fitness center, during a children's event or while talking with an employee who has a great idea. We expect you to know our department leaders. We want you to know our employees. Over time, we want our members to know you too. Major club events will sometimes require evening or weekend participation. You won't need to personally cover everything. Part of being successful will be building relationships throughout the organization so employees can help capture photos, video and content when you're somewhere else. This is also a leadership position You won't have a large marketing department working underneath you. Instead, you'll lead through relationships. You'll work closely with our Golf, Food & Beverage, Fitness, Pool, Membership, Events and Clubhouse teams. You'll maintain an annual marketing calendar, keep departments ahead of deadlines and help managers find better ways to communicate and promote what they're doing. You'll also coordinate with our team at Scioto Reserve Country Club. While that club has someone handling much of its day to day marketing activity, many communications and initiatives serve members of both clubs. You will report to the President and General Manager and will have the ability to delegate appropriate projects to employees throughout the organization. We want ideas Just because we've always done something one way doesn't mean it has to stay that way. If you see a better way to promote an event, tell us. If you think we're missing an opportunity on social media, show us. If you walk through the lobby and suddenly think of a display that would get children excited about an upcoming event, build it. If you believe one of our departments could tell its story better, get involved. We aren't looking for someone to simply maintain what already exists. We want someone who will help us evolve. Who will thrive here? You may have 3 to 5 years of experience and be ready for an opportunity to take ownership of a brand. Or you may have 7 to 10 years of experience and be looking for an environment where you can get closer to the action and make a visible impact. Either can work. Your portfolio, creativity, judgment, energy and track record matter more to us than checking every traditional box on a résumé.You should be:
Creative and visually talented A strong communicator Highly organized Comfortable managing multiple deadlines A self starter who takes action Flexible when priorities change Comfortable around members, employees and children Professional without being overly corporate Someone who enjoys collaborating with people Willing to jump in and help Interested in new technology and new ways of reaching people Able to create work that can be playful and energetic one day and polished and sophisticated the next Our membership spans generations. One project may need to excite an eight year old. Another may be communicating an elegant dinner or golf event to members in their 60s and 70s. Good judgment and the ability to adjust your creative style to the audience are essential. What won't work here Someone who waits to be told what to do will struggle. Someone who wants to stay in their office will struggle. Someone who doesn't enjoy interacting with members or employees will struggle. Poor attention to detail and missed deadlines won't work. And if setting up a display, making a sign, helping another department or jumping into a project feels beneath your title, this probably isn't the right position. We care far more about getting things done than protecting job descriptions. Experience and skills A strong background in marketing, communications, graphic design, social media, brand management or a related field is preferred. Experience with Canva and modern content creation tools is important. Experience managing websites, email marketing, social media platforms, publications and digital content is highly desirable. A college degree is welcome, but a great portfolio and demonstrated ability carry more weight with us than a diploma. Show us what you can do Please submit your résumé along with a portfolio or examples of your work. A portfolio is required to be considered for this position. We want to see your style. Show us social media campaigns, graphics, publications, signage, photography, video, displays, websites or other projects that demonstrate how you think and create. Most importantly, show us work that demonstrates you understand how to communicate with different audiences while keeping a brand professional, welcoming and alive. Why this opportunity is different You'll have room to create. You'll have access to nearly every part of the operation. You'll work directly with senior leadership. You'll see the things you create being used by members every day. And you'll have an opportunity to help shape how two active private clubs tell their stories for years to come. If you want a remote marketing position or a job where every day looks exactly the same, this isn't it. If you want to create, communicate, experiment, get involved and make an impact, we'd like to see your work.Pay:
