Brand Marketing Manager The Marketing Lens Olathe, KS Job Details Part-time | Contract $40 - $50 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft PowerPoint Google Workspace Teamwork Microsoft Excel Process improvement Attention to detail Editing Full Job Description Brand Marketing Manager - Part-Time / Contract The Marketing Lens | Kansas City Area | 1099 Contractor The Marketing Lens is an independently owned marketing support partner specializing in pet and CPG brands. We offer the flexibility and hands-on impact of a growing small business while delivering high-caliber work for established and emerging brands. We work alongside internal brand marketing teams to help get the work done - from product launches and packaging support to presentations, content, research and the countless details that keep brands moving. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on marketing professional who can jump into projects, figure things out and move work forward. This is a strong fit for someone with experience in brand or CPG management, marketing project management, communications or another hands-on marketing environment who wants meaningful work, flexibility and the opportunity to help shape a growing small business. About the role This is an execution-focused marketing role with plenty of variety. You'll work across multiple clients and projects, often starting with an open-ended request, a rough starting point or incomplete information and taking it through to a clear, polished deliverable. Along the way, you may support presentations, marketing copy, commercialization, research, packaging updates, project management and customer meetings. Some days you'll help solve a complicated marketing challenge or build an important customer presentation. Other days you'll update a spreadsheet, proof a deck, organize product information or track down the last missing piece of a project. That's the job - and we take pride in doing both well. We're a small and growing business, so you'll also have room to bring ideas, improve processes, introduce better ways of working and put your fingerprint on how The Marketing Lens operates and grows. What you'll do
- Support day-to-day brand and marketing projects, including marketing copy, presentations, briefs, sales and customer materials, and other client deliverables.
- Use available data and industry research to build, edit, review and polish clear, focused PowerPoint presentations that tell the right brand story for the client.
- Use Excel and Google Sheets to organize, maintain and analyze product, project and marketing data, including trackers, timelines and other working documents.
- Manage timelines, deliverables, follow-ups and cross-functional coordination while supporting product launches, commercialization projects and packaging updates.
- Conduct competitive, category, customer and consumer research and turn findings into clear, useful and client-ready materials.
- Participate in client and customer meetings, capture decisions and next steps, and take ownership of follow-through.
- Accurately track and submit time by client and project, with enough detail to support client billing and internal project management.
- Use AI and other technology tools thoughtfully, securely and responsibly to improve research, content development, analysis, organization and efficiency - while protecting client confidentiality and validating outputs before use. You're a fit if you
- Have professional marketing experience in brand management, CPG marketing, marketing project management, agency, communications, consumer products or a similar hands-on environment.
- Are a self-starter who can manage your own schedule, priorities and deadlines, take ownership of work and stay accountable for commitments without frequent follow-up.
- Are strong in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, are comfortable working across Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace collaboration tools, and know what polished, professional marketing work looks like.
- Are detail-oriented, organized and comfortable working through ambiguity, incomplete information and shifting priorities across multiple clients and projects.
- Communicate confidently and professionally with clients, customers, agencies, vendors and cross-functional partners.
- Use good judgment with technology and AI tools, including secure handling of client and company information.
- Enjoy a small-business environment where you can improve processes, build better ways of working and contribute beyond a narrowly defined job description.
- Take pride in both the interesting work and the repetitive, detail-heavy work that keeps projects moving. Pet industry experience is a plus, but it isn't required. Experience in CPG, consumer products or a traditional brand-management environment can be equally valuable. This job may not be for you if
- You need a highly structured schedule or frequent check-ins to keep work moving. This role offers significant flexibility, but that flexibility comes with ownership and accountability.
- You only want the fun marketing work. Some projects are strategic and creative; others involve spreadsheets, proofreading, product data, revisions and other detailed work that simply needs to get done.
- You prefer to wait for perfectly defined instructions. We provide direction and context, but we need someone who is comfortable asking the right questions, figuring out what's needed and moving work forward without every step being defined. Contract details
