Job Description

Development and Marketing Manager Recovery Is Happening | Rochester, MN | Full-Time Reports to: Executive Director About Recovery Is Happening Recovery Is Happening (RIH) is a peer-led Recovery Community Organization (RCO) and licensed 245G outpatient treatment provider based in Rochester, MN. Founded in 2011, we connect individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder with personalized pathways to recovery. Our work is grounded in lived experience, community trust, and a belief that recovery is not just possible, it's happening every day. This role joins a small, mission-driven team and plays a direct part in sustaining the resources that make our work possible. Position Overview The Development and Marketing Manager leads all fundraising and communications activity for RIH. This includes building and managing a diversified donor base, driving awareness of our mission in the broader community, and keeping our brand consistent across every channel. The role reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the board, a development consultant, and program staff. This is a hands-on role. You'll own the strategy and do a significant amount of the execution yourself. Primary Responsibilities Fundraising Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan with clear revenue goals, strategies, and timelines Manage and grow a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship Prepare compelling proposals, gift acknowledgments, and impact reports Coordinate with the Executive Director and board members on major gift strategy and asks Oversee planning and execution of special events as fundraising and donor engagement opportunities Maintain accurate donor records and track interactions Marketing and Communications Develop and manage RIH's annual marketing and communications calendar Create and maintain consistent, mission-aligned content across social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), email, and the RIH website Design print and digital materials including newsletters, flyers, community reports, and event signage Write and edit content for newsletters, press releases, donor communications, and other publications Serve as a spokesperson and presenter to external audiences as needed Manage and update website content (WordPress) and maintain media/contact lists Database and CRM Maintain the donor database with accuracy, consistency, and attention to privacy Generate reports and mailing lists for fundraising and communications use Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus at least 3-5 years of development and/or marketing experience (nonprofit preferred) Demonstrated success in fundraising—including individual donor cultivation, corporate solicitation, and grant support Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to diverse audiences Proficiency in MS Office, WordPress, design tools (Canva or Adobe), and a donor CRM Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities without close supervision Preferred Experience working in a nonprofit human services or behavioral health environment Familiarity with the recovery community or personal/professional connection to recovery Event planning experience Graphic design skills Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $65,000
