Marketing Manager Full-Time / Salaried /
Exempt Summary:
The Marketing Manager leads the development and execution of strategic marketing, communications, and community engagement initiatives to advance Friends of PACC's mission. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role oversees brand strategy, content development, digital presence, and campaign performance. The Manager will drive storytelling, expand audience reach, and strengthen community partnerships to increase visibility, engagement, fundraising success, and support for the people and pets we serve. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with strong creative instincts, excellent communication skills, and a passion for mission-driven work. Functions- Provide professional, timely, and mission-aligned communication with donors, volunteers, community partners, and the public.
- May provide day-to-day direction, coaching, project oversight, and performance feedback to marketing staff as assigned.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive short- and long-term marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational priorities, including digital marketing, social media, email marketing, direct mail, and community outreach initiatives.
- Oversee the execution of integrated marketing campaigns across print, digital, email, and social media.
- Safely interact with and occasionally handle dogs, cats, and other companion animals while capturing photos and videos, attending events, and supporting Friends of PACC programs in accordance with Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) animal handling and safety protocols.
- Manage multiple marketing projects simultaneously, establish priorities, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Develop strategies to increase audience growth, engagement, and brand awareness across social media, email, and digital platforms.
- Develop and oversee content strategies for all social media channels in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer.
- Track, analyze, and report on key marketing metrics, including website traffic, email performance, social media engagement, fundraising campaign results, and other performance indicators to inform future strategy.
- Collaborate with the Annual Giving Specialist to plan and execute fundraising campaigns, including Giving Tuesday, AZ Gives Day, and El Tour de Tucson, as well as associated marketing materials (print and digital collateral, newsletters, brochures, and appeals).
- Provide graphic design support for print and digital collateral, and coordinate with external designers, printers, and vendors as needed.
- Draft press releases, media advisories, talking points, and other communications materials while supporting media relations in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, who serves as the organization's primary media spokesperson.
- Capture, coordinate, or oversee photography and video content that highlights Friends of PACC's impact and tells compelling stories about the people and pets we serve.
- Maintain and update the Friends of PACC website and related digital platforms, including website content, blog updates, online inquiries, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure all marketing and communications accurately reflect Friends of PACC's mission, programs, and partnership with Pima Animal Care Center.
- Serve as the steward of the Friends of PACC brand by maintaining consistency in messaging, voice, and visual identity across all communications.
- Leverage emerging marketing technologies and AI tools to improve efficiency, content development, workflow, and audience engagement while maintaining Friends of PACC's brand standards.
- Lead the marketing and communications strategy for organizational events, including planning timelines, promotional materials, sponsorship recognition, digital marketing, media outreach, and post-event communications.
- Represent Friends of PACC as a brand ambassador at community events, presentations, tabling opportunities, partner meetings, and other public engagements while maintaining a professional and mission-aligned presence.
- Monitor online reviews, social media interactions, and digital engagement to ensure timely responses and maintain a positive public presence.
- Serve as the organization's marketing strategist by identifying new opportunities, recommending innovative outreach initiatives, and continuously evaluating marketing efforts to maximize community awareness, fundraising success, and program participation.
- Coordinate with PACC and Pima County Public Relations personnel on shared initiatives.
- Monitor and maintain the info@friendsofpacc.org email account in collaboration with internal staff.
- Assist with in-kind donations, including receiving, loading/unloading, organizing, and distributing donated items as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Preparation and Knowledge The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the mission and vision of Friends of PACC, a passion for improving the lives of pets and the people who care for them, and the qualifications listed below:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations; nonprofit experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), content management systems (CMS), and website editing platforms.
- Experience with communications management and email marketing platforms
- Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) is preferred
- Experience in animal welfare or a related field preferred
- Valid Arizona driver's license and ability to meet organizational insurance requirements Other essential qualities

- This position requires intermittent physical activity, including standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and moving during events and donation pickups, as well as prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- This is a hybrid position requiring both remote and on-site work.
- Hours may include weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed - including some special events.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and assist with loading, unloading, transporting, and organizing donated goods, event materials, and marketing supplies as needed.
- This position requires working in a variety of environments, including animal shelter settings, outdoor events, and community activities where exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, pet dander, and animals of varying sizes and temperaments may occur. Licenses and Certificates
- A valid Arizona driver's license is required at the time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 36-month review of their DOT Motor Vehicle Record. Failure to obtain and maintain the required license shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon review and approval of the candidate's driving record.
- Anyone who drives on behalf of Friends of PACC is required to maintain personal auto insurance with minimum coverage of $100,000/$300,000.
