Job Description
Position Profile The Advisory Engineer, Imaging Science is a senior technical professional who provides technical direction and leadership in the development of complex imaging‑related products, components, processes, and production technologies. This role contributes significantly to establishing technical plans, defining approaches, developing designs, and conducting advanced engineering and scientific analyses. Working within broad objectives, the Advisory Engineer develops new or improved products and processes and conducts research into emerging technologies applicable to complex imaging systems. Assignments require limited supervision and general direction, with performance evaluated upon completion. Job Duties and Responsibilities Owns and leads work across multiple components or highly complex components of products or solutions Provides technical advice and consultation to other professionals on complex product and engineering issues Leads professional teams and major project planning activities, ensuring delivery on time and within cost objectives Accountable for team, departmental, or project outcomes involving cross‑functional collaboration Makes decisions that directly impact project objectives, customer satisfaction, cost, quality, and expense Provides ongoing technical leadership and guidance for development projects within the team or functional area Influences initiatives measured by business outcomes, customer satisfaction, and future cost or expense impact Solves complex engineering problems and develops innovative technical solutions and designs Proactively assesses future market needs from a technical and innovation perspective Actively contributes to intellectual property development, patents, and technical publications Represents the organization at conferences, technical symposiums, and industry forums Anticipates and mitigates technical risks using experience and subject‑matter expertise Drives continuous improvement in procedures, processes, and engineering practices Acts as an internal and external technical liaison on routine and advanced matters May have responsibility for project budgets or controlled expenses Documents technical work and ensures timely communication to all impacted stakeholders Supports occasional domestic and international travel as required Performs additional responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree required Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities In‑depth professional expertise in Imaging Science, Image Processing, and Signal Processing , typically acquired through significant industry or research experience Strong theoretical, conceptual, and applied knowledge within a specialized engineering discipline Proven ability to lead teams using effective teamwork and group‑dynamics skills Demonstrated ability to foster a high‑performance team culture and lead by example Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to management and executives Strong professional networking capabilities within areas of technical expertise Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands Ability to manage and cope with job‑related stressors while maintaining consistent performance levels Work performed in environments adhering to state, federal, or nationally accepted safety and regulatory standards Flexibility to accommodate work requirements including travel, overtime, shifting priorities, and concurrent tasks Ability to adapt quickly to new assignments, systems, tools, and technologies Produces clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal communication for peers, leadership, and customers Establishes and maintains effective working relationships across diverse teams and perspectives Learns and applies new tools and equipment within acceptable timeframes Demonstrates ownership and accountability for assignments, completing commitments on schedule Disclaimer The above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals in this role.
