Job Description

Community Outreach Enrollment Specialist Build a career in professional marketing, customer acquisition, and business development—without stepping into the same old job. We are expanding one of Maine's fastest-growing community outreach and customer acquisition teams. Across Maine, new energy projects and utility programs are changing the way residents and businesses access and pay for electricity. Programs involving net metering, distributed energy, utility credits, and other energy initiatives can provide qualifying customers with opportunities to reduce eligible electricity costs—but many customers either don't know these programs exist or don't understand how to participate. That's where we come in. Our Community Outreach Enrollment Specialists work directly with residents and business owners to educate them about available programs, determine basic eligibility, and guide qualified customers through a straightforward enrollment process. This is a field-based, performance-driven opportunity for motivated individuals who want to develop valuable skills in communication, customer acquisition, sales, leadership, and business development. What You'll Do You'll work in assigned communities throughout Maine, speaking directly with residents and business owners about available energy programs and projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Representing our programs professionally in the field Starting conversations with prospective customers Educating residents and businesses about available energy programs Explaining applicable utility credits and program benefits clearly and accurately Identifying basic eligibility Answering customer questions Guiding qualified customers through enrollment Following established compliance and customer-service procedures Tracking activity and working toward individual and team goals No previous industry experience is required. We provide training in professional communication, customer acquisition, field marketing, enrollment procedures, energy programs, sales development, and leadership. Performance-Based Pay & Career Growth This is a performance-based, commission position. Compensation is directly tied to individual production, consistency, and results. The opportunity grows as your skills, production, and leadership responsibilities grow. Examples of annual earning potential based on position and individual performance:
Entry-Level Representatives:
approximately $75,000-$80,000 per year
High-Producing Representatives:
potential to earn $250,000+ per year Direct Supervisors /
Team Leaders:
approximately $125,000-$450,000 per year
Regional Leaders & Partners:
opportunity to earn significantly more as responsibilities, production, team development, and market growth increase These figures represent performance-based earning opportunities and are not guaranteed salaries. Actual earnings vary based on individual production, experience, market conditions, leadership responsibilities, and other factors. For individuals interested in building a long-term career, advancement opportunities may include: Senior field marketing positions Training and mentoring new representatives Team leadership Direct supervision Regional management and expansion Long-term partnership and business-development opportunities There is no predetermined timeline for advancement. Performance, professionalism, leadership, and the ability to develop others determine how quickly someone can progress. Opportunity to Travel & Expand Nationwide While this position is currently based in Maine, the opportunity does not necessarily stop at the state line. New distributed-energy projects, utility programs, and customer enrollment opportunities are developing in markets throughout the country. As additional projects and markets become available, our goal is to continue expanding alongside the industry. For team members interested in travel and new experiences, this can create opportunities to work in and help develop markets in different parts of the United States. As we expand, experienced representatives and leaders may have opportunities to: Travel to developing markets around the country Participate in short-term marketing trips Help launch and develop new territories Train new representatives in expanding markets Build and lead teams outside of Maine Take on larger regional leadership responsibilities Travel is an opportunity—not a requirement for every position. For someone who wants to see different parts of the country, meet new people, develop professionally, and potentially help build new markets from the ground up, this career can offer a very different experience from a traditional job. What We're Looking For Strong communication and interpersonal skills Comfortable speaking with new people face-to-face Professional, confident, and coachable Self-motivated and goal-oriented Reliable and consistent Competitive and results-driven Willing to learn and improve Interested in sales, marketing, leadership, or entrepreneurship Able to work independently while contributing to a team Previous sales experience is helpful, but not required Experience in customer service, hospitality, athletics, fundraising, recruiting, canvassing, or other people-facing environments can translate extremely well to this position. Why This Opportunity Is Different The way electricity is generated, distributed, and purchased in the United States is changing. New projects, net-metering structures, distributed-energy programs, and utility initiatives are creating an industry that is still developing across the country. Maine may be where you start. It doesn't have to be where your opportunity ends. We're looking for people who know they have a high-value skill set but haven't necessarily been given the right opportunity to put it to use. Maybe you're great with people. Maybe you're competitive. Maybe you know how to communicate, build relationships, lead others, or simply outwork the people around you—but the jobs you've had haven't given you a way to turn those abilities into the income, career, or lifestyle you know you're capable of creating. This is different from the traditional jobs most people are used to. Your performance matters. Your ability to communicate matters. Your willingness to learn matters. And as new energy projects and markets develop across the country, there may be opportunities to take those skills beyond Maine, travel to new markets, build teams, and grow alongside the industry. We're looking for people who recognize that they have something valuable to offer and are ready for an opportunity to finally put those abilities to work. If you believe you have a high-paying skill set but haven't yet had the opportunity to use it to create the life you want, we want to meet you. Apply today to schedule an interview with our team.
