Highly Experienced Leader for Marketing & Communications Associated Employers Group is conducting a national recruiting search for this position on behalf of a client. About the Role A well-established nonprofit is expanding into Southwest Montana and seeks a highly experienced leader for a Marketing and Communications role to lead the internal coordination and execution of the expansion throughout the Mountain West. This role will support an evolving organizational structure and a complex family of brands, while serving as both strategist and orchestrator, working closely with executive leadership, philanthropy and program teams, and external strategic and creative partners. The role will help steward brand architecture and messaging strategy to donors, translate organizational priorities into effective communications, connect people and information across teams and locations, and ensure the day-to-day marketing and communications system functions effectively. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable participating in strategic conversations with leadership, coordinating major initiatives with external partners, uncovering stories from program teams, reviewing performance data and personally handling routine communications when appropriate. The position is not designed for remote work and will be based in or near Yellowstone County, MT. Key Responsibilities Marketing & Communications Leadership Serve as the senior internal marketing and communications leader Partner with executive leadership to translate organizational priorities into marketing and communications strategies. Steward and implement approved brand architecture, positioning, messaging and visual identity. Develop annual marketing priorities, communications calendars and budgets. Bring an audience and reputation perspective to significant organizational initiatives and decisions. Organizational Integration & Agency Partnership Serve as the primary internal partner to external marketing, communications and creative agencies. Coordinate the people, information, approvals and resources necessary for successful agency-led work. Build strong relationships across leadership, philanthropy, and program teams. Serve as a connective point among programs, philanthropy, leadership and external partners. Content, Storytelling & Philanthropy Communications Translate complex programmatic and philanthropic information into clear, human and audience-centered communications. Establish systems for gathering stories, outcomes, photography, video and content from throughout Montana. Write, edit and coordinate routine email, web, newsletter, social and organizational communications. Ensure storytelling reflects appropriate privacy, dignity and consent standards. Digital, Brand & Marketing Operations Maintain an integrated marketing and communications calendar. Coordinate website content, email marketing, social publishing, analytics and related communications platforms to support crisis communications and reputation management. Collaborate with internal teams and outside partners on CRM and donor-data systems. Maintain approved messaging, brand and content resources and ensure consistent application throughout the organizations. Manage marketing budgets, timelines and internal approvals. Qualifications 8+ years of progressive marketing, communications, public relations or brand experience with demonstrated senior leadership responsibility. Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills. Demonstrated ability to operate across complex organizations, multiple audiences and competing priorities. Experience working with executive leadership and managing significant agency or professional-service partnerships. Strong understanding of brand, digital marketing, social media, email, web content and analytics. Nonprofit or philanthropic experience strongly preferred. Master's degree preferred in marketing, business, communications or similar accredited degree. Industry certifications are preferred. Ability to travel periodically throughout Mountain West region.
