Job Description
Brown Bag Marketing is looking for a senior, hands-on media leader ready to own the work, represent the team and help us grow! The Role We're looking for a killer Associate Media Director who can step into a meaningful leadership role from day one. This person is a strong strategist, confident client partner and hands-on media leader who can independently own significant accounts, represent paid media in the room, and help develop a smart, curious team. Brown Bag works across a diverse mix of B2B and B2C clients, so there is no one-size-fits-all playbook. The right person knows how to start with the business objective, build the right media approach around it, and explain the thinking clearly — whether the challenge is complex B2B demand generation, consumer acquisition, brand awareness or something in between. What You'll Do Own media strategy and leadership for a portfolio of B2B and B2C clients, from planning through optimization and reporting. Lead client conversations and presentations with confidence; be someone we trust to represent Brown Bag Media in the room. Build objective-first, integrated recommendations across paid search, paid social, programmatic, CTV/video, audio, endemic/trade media and traditional channels when they make sense. Turn performance data into a clear point of view: what happened, why it matters and what we should do next. Guide execution, budget stewardship, testing, optimization and measurement without losing sight of the bigger strategy. Coach and develop junior and mid-level team members, helping them become stronger thinkers — not just better task-doers. Partner closely with Account, Creative, Analytics, SEO, Social and CRM/marketing automation so media is connected to the broader client strategy. Bring ideas. Challenge assumptions. Help us improve our processes, capabilities, POVs and the way we show up for clients. Support new business and help grow both client relationships and the Media practice. What We're Looking For 7+ years of media planning, strategy, buying or activation experience, ideally in an agency environment. Proven experience leading client relationships and presenting strategic recommendations to senior marketers. Strong digital media depth plus enough traditional media knowledge to recommend it when it is the right answer. Experience across both B2B and B2C — or clear evidence you can flex across very different audiences, buying journeys and business models. A strong analytical instinct and the ability to turn reporting into decisions, not just recaps. Experience mentoring or managing team members and a real interest in helping younger talent grow. Curiosity, confidence, good judgment and a low-ego, roll-up-your-sleeves working style. The ability to manage multiple clients, priorities and budgets without dropping the details. What Success Looks Like We can hand you important accounts and trust you to lead them. You can represent Media in a client meeting without needing senior leadership in the room. Clients see you as a strategic partner, not just the person managing the media plan. The team gets smarter and more confident because you are coaching them. You make the work — and the department — better. Who is Brown Bag Marketing? We are a 30-ish person agency , which means you will know everyone you work with. You will also have the opportunity to make a real impact. We work with clients across a wide variety of industries (B2B, B2C and NFP), so no two days look exactly the same . We are collaborative by nature. Strategy, creative, content, digital and development work together, and we expect people to share ideas outside of their lane . We like people who are curious, resourceful and willing to figure things out . If you see something that needs to be done, you do not have to wait for someone to ask. We work hard, but we also genuinely like each other and like working together . That matters to us. We care about our community. We devote time and resources to nonprofits that mean something to us. We believe great client service is everyone's job. Deliver and Delight means doing excellent work, communicating well and looking for opportunities to make the client's experience better. We are a place for people who want to keep learning . Marketing changes constantly, and we expect our team to change with it. We give people room to own their work and their decisions , and with that autonomy comes accountability. We are proud to have been around since 2002, but we are not interested in doing things a certain way just because that's how we've always done them .
