Description and Requirements Job Description Modern Product - Principal, Product & AI Transformation Alabama / Southeast At Slalom, we help organizations build better products by improving not only what they deliver, but how they define value, make decisions, organize teams, and use emerging technology to create better outcomes. We're looking for a Principal, Product & AI Transformation to join our Modern Product Organization capability. This is a senior consulting role for someone who can work across strategy and execution, partner with client leaders, shape product operating models, and help organizations understand how AI can meaningfully improve the way they discover, plan, build, test, launch, and manage products. This role requires flexibility. No two clients will need the exact same thing. Some engagements may focus on product strategy, operating model design, AI-enabled product delivery, portfolio modernization, or leadership alignment. Others may require hands-on support with teams, product leaders, delivery groups, or transformation roadmaps. The right person will be comfortable moving between executive conversations and practical implementation. We're especially interested in someone who brings together product leadership, AI fluency, consulting experience, and strong delivery judgment . You do not need to have every answer, but you should be curious, credible, and able to help clients separate meaningful AI opportunities from noise. This role is based in Alabama / the Southeast , with flexibility to support clients across the region. Travel and in-person client presence will vary by engagement, but being present with clients when it matters is an important part of the role. What You'll Do As a Principal in Modern Product, you may: Lead product and AI transformation conversations. Partner with executives, business leaders, technology leaders, and product teams to define how product, operating model, and AI capabilities can improve business outcomes. Shape modern Product Operating Models. Help clients define product structures, value streams, roles and responsibilities, governance, decision rights, planning rhythms, funding models, metrics, and ways of working. Bring AI into the product lifecycle. Help organizations understand where AI can create real value across discovery, research, requirements, backlog refinement, planning, engineering, testing, documentation, analytics, and decision-making. Help clients make practical AI choices. Evaluate AI use cases, tools, process impacts, data readiness, organizational constraints, and adoption needs so clients can pursue solutions that fit their environment and goals. Connect strategy to execution. Translate high-level transformation goals into actionable roadmaps, operating model changes, pilots, implementation plans, and measurable outcomes. Advise product leaders and teams. Work with Product Managers, Product Owners, business stakeholders, engineering leaders, and delivery teams to strengthen product thinking, prioritization, roadmap discipline, customer value, and outcome measurement. Facilitate executive and working sessions. Design and lead workshops, leadership alignment sessions, product strategy discussions, operating model sessions, AI opportunity assessments, and planning conversations that create clarity and momentum. Assess what is getting in the way. Evaluate product maturity, delivery performance, organizational structures, tooling, governance, team design, portfolio practices, and AI readiness, then turn findings into practical recommendations. Support sales and growth. Help shape pursuits, proposals, solution approaches, client conversations, thought leadership, and reusable Modern Product assets. Build client capability. Create playbooks, frameworks, enablement materials, and practical tools that help clients continue improving after Slalom's work is complete. Contribute to the Modern Product community. Share market insights, lessons learned, client patterns, AI use cases, and reusable approaches that strengthen how Slalom brings Product and AI solutions to clients. What We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you have: 10+ years of experience across product management, product strategy, product operating models, digital transformation, technology delivery, consulting, or related leadership roles Experience working directly with clients, executives, and senior stakeholders to shape strategy, solve ambiguous problems, and drive measurable outcomes Strong understanding of modern product management , including product strategy, discovery, prioritization, roadmapping, outcome definition, value streams, portfolio alignment, and customer value Experience designing or improving Product Operating Models , including roles, governance, decision rights, funding, planning, metrics, and team structures Practical knowledge of AI and Generative AI , including how these capabilities can improve the Product Development Lifecycle and broader product operating model The judgment to help clients identify where AI can create meaningful value, where it may not, and what needs to change across people, process, technology, and data to make adoption successful The ability to move comfortably between executive-level strategy and hands-on engagement work with product, technology, and delivery teams Strong consulting skills, including facilitation, structured problem solving, executive communication, storytelling, relationship building, and ambiguity management Experience shaping proposals, leading client conversations, developing solution approaches, and contributing to business development A flexible mindset and willingness to support a range of Modern Product needs, from product strategy and AI transformation to operating model design and team-level enablement A leadership style grounded in outcomes over outputs, principles over process, and practical progress over rigid frameworks It's a Plus If You Bring Experience leading product, AI, digital, Agile, or operating model transformations across multiple industries or complex enterprise environments Experience with portfolio management, value-stream design, product funding models, AI-enabled delivery practices, or enterprise transformation roadmaps Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Miro, Confluence, product portfolio platforms, analytics tools, and modern AI tools Relevant certifications in product management, Agile, SAFe, Lean, design thinking, AI, cloud, or change management Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can build trust with clients, ask sharp questions, bring structure to ambiguity, and help organizations turn product, AI, and operating model ideas into real business value. For this role, we are hiring at the following levels and targeted base pay salary ranges: The targeted base salary pay range for Principal is $130,000 to $170,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus . Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors.
