Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Technical Product & Program Manager to own the ongoing development, quality, release management, and continuous improvement of our proprietary insurance agency management platform while also managing other strategic technology projects across the organization. Our core platform is nearing completion and transitioning into testing, deployment, stabilization, maintenance, integrations, and ongoing enhancement. We need someone who can take ownership of that process while bringing structure and accountability to multiple concurrent projects. This is not simply a ticket-management role. The right person can understand complex business workflows, translate them into clear technical requirements, challenge incomplete solutions, test software themselves, and drive projects through completion. Coding is not required, but strong technical literacy and hands-on QA experience are essential. Key Responsibilities Product & Technical Ownership
  • Translate business needs into requirements, workflows, user stories, and measurable acceptance criteria.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, operational impact, technical risk, and release readiness.
  • Bridge business users, Accounting, Operations, leadership, and engineering.
  • Identify missing requirements, dependencies, conflicting business rules, and edge cases.
  • Maintain clear documentation of product requirements, decisions, and business rules. QA, Testing & Release Management
  • Own final product validation before features and releases are accepted.
  • Conduct functional, workflow, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Validate workflows, data accuracy, permissions, calculations, integrations, and downstream reporting.
  • Clearly document defects and verify fixes.
  • Determine whether work is ready for release, requires additional work, or should be deferred.
  • Help establish repeatable QA and production-support processes. Program & Project Management
  • Manage multiple technology and business initiatives simultaneously.
  • Establish project plans, milestones, owners, dependencies, and timelines.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders, developers, and outside vendors.
  • Identify risks and delays early and drive issues to resolution.
  • Provide leadership with clear visibility into project status, risks, decisions, and upcoming milestones.
  • Ensure projects are driven to actual completion rather than simply tracked. Technical Knowledge The successful candidate does not need to be a software engineer but should be comfortable working with concepts including:
  • APIs and integrations
  • Frontend/backend architecture
  • Relational databases
  • Environments and releases
  • Data ownership
  • Authentication and authorization
  • RBAC, multi-tenant systems, audit trails, data integrity, PII/security
  • Financial and accounting workflows Strong working knowledge of Jira and Confluence is expected. Qualifications
  • 5+ years of technical product management, software program management, product ownership, or similar experience.
  • Experience managing software through development, QA, release, and production support.
  • Hands-on experience with QA, UAT, regression testing, and product acceptance.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to work directly with software engineers.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and drive projects through ambiguity.
Experience with insurance technology, agency management systems, financial systems, accounting workflows, commissions, or transaction-intensive applications is highly desirable. What Success Looks Like The Technical Product & Program Manager can independently take a business problem from concept through production—understanding the workflow, identifying missing requirements, defining what engineering needs to build, validating the finished product, and ensuring the resulting business rules are documented. For broader projects, this person creates clear accountability around what is being done, who owns it, when it will be completed, what is at risk, and what decisions are required. We value accuracy over apparent progress, ownership over coordination, evidence-based decisions, systems thinking, and disciplined documentation.
