POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for someone who is ready to lead a small team of Engineers by overseeing product development, production floor support, lab testing, customer tech support, etc. A manager with a hands-on "get it done" mindset that can step in to help all areas of the department when needed. You will work closely with peers from other departments to develop a comprehensive plan to manage a variety of projects and activities to drive continuous improvement. You will always be challenged and never bored while contributing to the future of a family-owned organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee Product Development:
Conceptualize, design, prototype, and test new products Drive the design to meet project targets Manage the project to effectively meet dates and deliverables
Oversee On-Going Product Development:
Maintain Product Development projects list in order of priority as determined by management Manage stage-gate process and timeline for development Update current designs to provide product variants Continuous improvement of current product Identify and address product related issues Manufacturing Support - Productivity Enhancement design and implementation Tech Support- Manage the Tech Support activities for positive customer experience Bill of Material Management (Epicor ERP) Contribute to company continuous improvement activities Benchmark competitive product Supporting other engineering activities as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS B.S
in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a reputable university required MBA from a reputable university preferred 10+ years of product development experience 5+ years managing an Engineering Department 5+ years of 3D CAD software experience (SolidWorks) Experience designing plastic and metal components, application of electromechanical components, and design of simple electrical circuits and an understanding of related tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes. Hands on, self-starter, and self-directed with the ability to wear many hats in a small team environment Knowledge of basic testing methodology ISO or similar quality system experience Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work with team members from all departments and respect the contributions of all individuals Knowledge of Microsoft Office package and ERP software (Epicor preferred)
