Job Description
Senior Product Development Engineer, Innovations Microban International | A Barr Brands Company (100% Employee-Owned)
Reports To:
Director, Innovations Why Join Us? At Microban, you'll help bring innovative, science-driven solutions to life across global markets. As a key member of our Innovations team, you'll own projects end-to-end—from concept to commercialization—while working alongside cross-functional partners to drive real business impact. What You'll Do Identify new formulations for application in polymers and other materials. Experience with building materials is preferred. Keep up with the latest scientific discoveries and market trends. Propose new product ideas based on business or scientific adjacencies. Contribute to front end innovation to target customers' unmet needs. Interviewing for voice of customers and extrapolating technical solutions. Lead projects from concept through commercialization. Develop and commercialize functional (antimicrobial, odor reducing and others) formulations that drive growth in key business segments. Develop data to support proof of concept, which includes but is not limited to, stability testing, materials costing, performance testing, prototype development, and process development. Design solutions with regulatory, safety, cost and sourcing availability in mind. Collaborate with cross functional teams, such as regulatory, sales, marketing and supply. Collaborate across R D groups and coach junior scientists on relevant scientific principles. Maintain detailed and accurate records for all experiments to ensure procedures and results are understood by colleagues and customers as well as to ensure potential marketing and patent claims can be supported. Maintain a safe working environment and contribute to the overall health and safety of the Innovation laboratory. What You Bring Bachelor's + 10 years, Master's + 8 years, or Ph.D. + 2+ years (Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related) Strong experience in formulation development (polymers or building materials preferred) Proven ability to take products from idea to commercialization Experience working in regulated environments and balancing technical + business needs How You Work Curious, innovative thinker who challenges the status quo Strong communicator who can translate complex science to any audience Ownership mindset with the ability to drive results despite obstacles Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities Influential presenter who can align stakeholders and move ideas forward Who You Are (Core Competencies)Champion Change:
