Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Principal Product Owner to bridge Product, Engineering, QA, Design, and business stakeholders. This role translates product strategy into clear requirements while ensuring solutions are designed, tested, and released with a high standard of quality across the organization's integrated hardware and software ecosystem. Core Responsibilities
- Own and prioritize the product backlog based on customer value, business impact, risk, effort, and dependencies.
- Translate product vision and business needs into clear requirements, user stories, functional documentation, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead product discovery through customer feedback, market research, competitive analysis, and operational insights.
- Define quality standards, quality gates, risk-based testing strategies, and release-readiness criteria.
- Serve as a product and quality SME for key workflows, including POS, CRM, kiosks, payments, RFID membership/access control, LPR, remote management, reporting, and subscription billing.
- Lead or oversee UAT, exploratory testing, end-to-end workflow validation, and quality reviews for major features and releases.
- Identify quality gaps, cross-system dependencies, recurring defects, and operational edge cases; partner with Engineering and QA on root-cause analysis and corrective action.
- Lead and participate in Agile ceremonies and ensure development teams have clarity on scope, requirements, acceptance criteria, and expected outcomes.
- Working with the product manager, communicate product priorities, release readiness, risks, tradeoffs, dependencies, and customer impact to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Mentor Product QAs, QA Analysts, Product Owners, and squad members on requirements, test design, scenario thinking, and quality practices.
- Track product and quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement to reduce defects, rework, and customer-impacting issues.
- Provide inputs, and work with the Product Manager to develop product roadmap. Required Product Experience
- Hands-on experience with one or more complex operational product domains such as POS, payment kiosks, RFID/access control, LPR, subscription billing, CRM, remote management, or multi-site operational platforms.
- Experience working with integrated hardware and software environments is strongly preferred.
- Car wash, quick lube, automotive service, parking automation, retail automation, or kiosk-based technology experience is highly desirable. Required Skills & Experience
- 5-10+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Business Analysis, QA leadership, product delivery, or a combination of these disciplines.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum, product lifecycle, backlog management, UAT, defect management, and release processes.
- Demonstrated ability to create clear user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and functional requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an understanding of operational workflows, business logic, and edge cases.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate product and quality risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise SaaS, platform products, workflow automation, QA governance, or release management.
- Experience working across multiple product squads or complex product workstreams.
- Experience with payments, APIs, third-party integrations, or other transaction-heavy environments. Success Measures
- Backlogs and requirements are clear, prioritized, and development-ready.
- Quality risks are identified earlier and releases demonstrate improved stability.
- Customer-impacting defects and rework are reduced.
- Product, Engineering, and QA teams have strong alignment on requirements and release expectations.
- Customers experience measurable improvements in product reliability, usability, and value.
