Duck Camp is seeking a Product Developer with a strong design perspective and proven technical design experience who will be responsible for seasonal and long-term design and development of outdoor apparel. This role is a unique hybrid of technical design and product development, for the truly creative developer. We are seeking a candidate to fill this role that is inspired to nurture the full lifecycle of a product: from conception through design, development and technical fit, to final bulk approvals and on-time, on-budget bulk execution. A highly-detail oriented team member, who thrives on creating best-in-class products.Job Responsibilities:
Technical Design Designs products for the seasonal line plan with strong construction detail, technical fit and a functional feature-set to satisfy all brand and categorical goals. Responsible for product fittings, and executing detailed fit comments and technical spec sheets for each proto phase within a timely manner, to ensure all seasonal deadlines are met. Fits and validates jump-size-set protos each season to ensure grade rule and fit block accuracy is maintained across every product, and every size within the Duck Camp size chart. Works closely with the Senior Manager of Development & Production to ensure consistent fit and finish across all categories in the Duck Camp assortment, season over season. Product Development Supports the development of each new seasonal story, in accordance with the brand's historical color standards/requirements, brand specific historical data and future-state trend reporting. Manages tech pack creation, maintenance and status reporting throughout the development process, to include final bulk approval thoroughly documented within each tech pack. Responsible for sample management of owned products and/or categories. Develops consistent color and print across the entire library of materials and trims to include the following processes: lab dips across wovens & knits, plaid development handlooms, sweater development knitdowns, print strike-offs and quality evaluations across a variety of print methods and fabric qualities. Owns daily communication with factory partners to ensure on-time and on-budget product development in accordance with each seasonal line plan. Works closely with the Product Team to deliver product which satisfies the initial product brief, consumer need, and market opportunity. Develops products in accordance with our seasonal calendar, to ensure all internal and external deadlines are successfully met. Attends industry shows and travels to factories and mills, semi-annual international travel required.Desired Skills & Experience:
3 to 5+ years experience working in technical, functional apparel categories within menswear preferably with experience in outdoor apparel. Degree in apparel design, technical design or development required. Proven experience in technical fit, pattern-making, and garment construction across a variety of textiles. Strong CAD design experience within Adobe Illustrator required. Preferred experience building seasonal color stories to include work with embroidery and screen printed treatments. Strong background in Microsoft Excel. Highly detail oriented with proven success in working closely with an international vendor base (factories and mills). Strong presentation and communication skills. A positive, collaborative team player who is eager to become an integral part of a small, but mighty Apparel Development team.
