Essential Job Duties:

Upholstery and Soft Goods Fabrication:

Apply hands-on upholstery skills to construct, fit, and refine furniture prototypes. Work with fabrics, foams, and other soft good materials to meet design intent, comfort, and durability standards established from our customer. Troubleshoot fit and construction issues during prototyping, adjusting patterns and techniques as needed. Build production ready products that translate design concepts into upholstered pieces that our production team can make repeatedly. Develop Bill of Materials (BOMs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for continued manufacturing.

Product Design and Development:

Alongside our cross-functional product development team, lead the design and development of new products from initial concept through to production. Collaborate with cross functional teams including Account Management, Purchasing, and Production to ensure product designs meet customer needs and company goals. Utilize CAD software to create detailed product designs and specifications. Collaboration with

Customers and Industrial Design:

Work alongside industrial designers to ensure that product designs are manufacturable and meet technical specifications. Meet directly with customers throughout the development process to understand requirements, preferences, and use cases. Present prototypes and upholstered samples to customers for feedback, and incorporate that feedback into revised iterations. Provide input during the design phase on fit, materials, and constructability. Build and maintain customer relationships that support repeat collaboration on future product development.

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 50 lbs. frequently. Ideally, qualified applicants have: Bachelor's degree or 3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Furniture Product Development/Upholstery, a related field, or matching relevant experience. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX, Fusion360). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production methods. Experience developing or optimizing manufacturing processes and production workflows is a benefit for this role. Familiarity with commercial aerospace requirements, commercial furniture requirements, feasibility studies and continuous improvement methodologies preferred. Continuous learner mentality. Fabrication experience utilizing hand tools; CNC machinery and general woodshop experience is a plus. Familiarity with process documentation such as work instructions and standard operating procedures (preferred, not required). Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Years:

120 hours + 30 hours paid Holiday during Christmas week

Holidays:

New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are paid for 10 hours after 1 month of employment.

Medical/Dental/Vision Benefits:

Eligible for coverage on the 1st day of the month following completion of 60 days of employment.

Tuition Assistance:
