Job Description
Join Plaudit as our content lead for SEO and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). Plaudit is a St. Paul web agency with 25+ years in website design, site management, and Internet marketing, and a team that genuinely cares about doing the work well. This is a full-time hybrid role, with two days each week in our St. Paul office (currently Monday and Wednesday). Responsibilities Your writing attracts the right audience through traditional search and AI citations, then deepens their interest, answers their questions, and reinforces the brand. Getting there takes more than writing alone — the work spans research, strategy, optimization, and measurement, all in service of real business outcomes: qualified traffic, engaged readers, and conversions that matter. Day to day, the work includes: Writing client content. Service pages, landing pages, blog posts, case studies, and anything else a site needs to convert and rank — plus the occasional off-site piece like email campaigns, ad copy, or guest content. Building SEO strategies. Keyword research, on-page optimization, content structure, and internal linking. Building GEO strategies. Structuring content so it gets cited and surfaced in AI-driven search and chat tools, and tracking how clients show up in those systems. Auditing client sites. Identifying content gaps, SEO issues, and GEO readiness, then turning audits into concrete plans. Meeting with clients. Kickoff calls, strategy presentations, audit walkthroughs, and monthly reporting — presenting the work in a way that's clear, useful, and builds confidence at every touchpoint. Collaborating with teammates. This role focuses on content and strategy, but technical SEO and paid search are part of the broader picture for many clients. You'll work closely with teammates who specialize in those areas, contributing your perspective and lending a hand when needed. Contributing to Plaudit's own marketing. The same work you do for clients applies here, too. Content strategy, SEO, and GEO for plaudit.com and other channels. We practice what we pitch. Requirements We're looking for a strong writer who treats SEO and GEO as part of the craft, not a separate checklist. Most client briefs come to us loose, so you'll need to ask the right questions, develop a real point of view on what the content should do, and produce work that's polished and purposeful. Curiosity, resourcefulness, and a genuine interest in the clients you're writing for are qualities we value and look for in everyone on the team.
