Job Description

Are you fascinated by how search engines work? Do you like diving into data to solve complex puzzles? Our campus project consulting group is seeking an analytical, data-minded Student SEO Consultant to facilitate the organic search and website visibility overhaul for a client. In this role, you will be the data anchor of the marketing team. You will audit the client group's current website, identify the exact search terms students use to find resources, and restructure their web content to improve their search engine ranking (SERPs). You will turn raw web traffic data into an actionable strategy that drives real, organic growth. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary group of students, contribute to team and client meetings, and work on specific deliverables to finish projects within an 8-12-week timeframe. Team members will be paid. About e2i Education 2 Impact (e2i) offers students the opportunity to work within interdisciplinary teams while gaining paid, hands-on experience. Projects are provided by companies or entrepreneurial UVU students, and teams are assembled to work under the guidance of a student project manager to complete these projects—mirroring real-world industry practices. Each project typically lasts between 8 and 12 weeks, giving team members condensed, high-impact professional experience. What You'll Gain Hard data for your resume, including high-value bullet points backed by concrete metrics (e.g., "Optimized site architecture to increase organic traffic by X%"). Real consulting experience in SEO and data analytics, some of the most sought-after competencies in modern digital marketing.
Strategic Collaboration:
Practice translating complex technical concepts and data reporting into plain English for client leadership teams. As the search engine optimization specialist on the project team, you will: Perform SEO and content audits to evaluate the client's existing website health, loading performance, indexing errors, and current search visibility using tools like Google Search Console. Conduct keyword research to identify high-volume, low-competition search terms relevant to the target audience to build an optimized content strategy. On-Page optimization to help revamp website content, page titles, meta descriptions, and image alt text to match search intent and modern search engine algorithms. Technical SEO to partner with web developers to improve site architecture, ensure mobile-friendliness, and optimize internal linking patterns. Analytics tracking and reporting to set up and monitor performance metrics (organic traffic, click-through rates, bounce rates) using Google Analytics to prove the project's impact. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at Utah Valley University (UVU). Solid data literacy with the ability to look at spreadsheets and charts to spot consumer patterns or technical errors. Solid conceptual understanding of how search engine ranking, keywords, and search algorithms function. Ability to write clear, high-quality, keyword-optimized web copy without sounding robotic. Ability to communicate and work effectively within a cross-functional project team and meet strict project deliverables. Preferred Qualifications Pursuing a degree or coursework in Marketing Analytics, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Business Management, or a related field. Hands-on experience with digital tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz. Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or university-specific web portals.
