Digital Media Specialist Lake Forest College - 4.3 Lake Forest, IL Job Details $21 an hour 22 hours ago Qualifications Photography 3D printers macOS support Printing Bachelor's degree 3D printing 3D scanner Desktop administration Full Job Description June 10, 2026 The Art and Art History Department at Lake Forest College is seeking candidates for a Digital Media Specialist. This position requires knowledge of a variety of digital media workflows and processes such as large format printing, 3D printing, digital video and photography. The media specialist will also be required to maintain inventory and procedures for loaning of equipment to students, staff and faculty. Qualifications include a high level of organization, abilities to troubleshoot and work well with others. This position is also responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of digital media equipment with the assistance of our IT department. Duties include assistance for students in the New Media Art Lab, the Durand Computer Lab and occasionally the Sonnenchein and Albright Galleries when an exhibition requires media assistance. New Media Art Lab The new media art lab is a space dedicated to the creation of digital and media arts, supporting our students in The Art and Art History Department. The space contains an 8 seat Mac Lab with peripherals associated with audio, video, graphic design, VR, and 3D scanning and printing. The space is also equipped with large format and medium format printers. The room stores equipment related to video, photography and sound production available for loan periods ranging from 1 day to 3 days. The storage area contains equipment used for display and exhibitions including sound, lighting and video projectors and monitors.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assistance to students, faculty and staff with technical processes and workflows. Keep the New Media Art and Design lab operational and organized. Maintain and keep accurate records of equipment loans using our inventory software. Organize print scheduling for courses that require the use of large and medium format printing. Notify our department assistant when consumables are running low such as paper, ink, bulbs, cleaners, and 3D print filaments. Act as liaison with the IT Department to resolve issues and update software and hardware. Train student workers with digital lab processes and workflows. Meet with department chair weekly to give updates on the status of equipment, procedures, tasks, and training.
Essential Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in digital media, graphic design, communications, or a related field. Knowledge and expertise with Mac Computer and digital media software. Applied skills in large format printing processes. Knowledge of digital photo, video, sound and electronic equipment. Knowledge of 3D scanning and printing. General interest and curiosity about new processes and technologies in the arts. High level of organizational capacity. Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others. This position is part-time 20hrs a week during the academic calendar year, August-May.
