Job Description

Create and manage social media content for the Department of Accounting & Finance (A&F), highlighting student success stories, alumni guest speaker events, the CFP Financial Planning Symposium, Accounting Meet the Firm, and other career events. Conduct short interviews with students about their experiential learning activities (internships and externships) and turn them into shareable content. The goal is to promote student success and raise the visibility of the department across social media. Career Readiness Competencies Take initiative to learn new tools, systems, or procedures on the job. Adjust tone and approach based on audience (e.g., peers vs. supervisors). Break down tasks into steps to complete work more efficiently. Adapt communication style when needed to promote effective teamwork. Troubleshoot simple technical issues or know when to ask for help. Work with the college's Communications and Events Specialist to ensure all content meets university and college communication compliance policies. Plan, create, and publish social media content (photos, short videos, graphics, written posts) across department platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn). Attend and document department events, including alumni guest speaker sessions, the CFP Financial Planning Symposium, Accounting Meet the Firm, and other career events. Conduct brief interviews with students about their experiential learning activities (internships and externships) and turn them into shareable content. Identify and feature student success stories, in coordination with faculty and staff. Maintain a consistent content calendar and posting schedule. Track engagement metrics and report on content performance. Coordinate with the department chair and program directors on messaging and approvals. Currently enrolled BGSU student in good academic standing. Prefer a student majoring in Marketing. Basic skill in creating social media content - video, stories, posts, and interviews - or a strong passion to learn. Basic photo/video editing skills (e.g., Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, or similar). Strong written communication skills. Comfortable approaching and interviewing fellow students. Reliable, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Hours are flexible around class schedule; some evening/weekend attendance required to capture content at department events.
