This is a hands-on position for someone who is equally comfortable developing a social media strategy, walking through a business district to capture photos and video, writing engaging content, coordinating vendors, and representing our company and clients at community events. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of growing social media accounts, developing creative campaigns, managing content calendars, and producing high-quality content across multiple platforms. This person must also exercise good judgment and decorum, communicate professionally, and demonstrate a genuine spirit of hospitality when interacting with businesses, community members, vendors, public agency staff, and event attendees. Key Responsibilities Social Media Strategy and Account Management Develop and manage social media calendars for multiple clients and campaigns. Create thoughtful, creative, and audience-appropriate social media campaigns. Write engaging captions and calls to action that reflect each client's voice and goals. Schedule and publish content using platforms such as Later, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools. Monitor account performance, identify opportunities for growth, and recommend adjustments based on results. Respond appropriately and professionally to comments, questions, and community interactions. Maintain consistent posting schedules and ensure content is accurate, timely, and aligned with approved messaging. Support organic account growth through strong content, audience engagement, partnerships, and campaign planning. Boost posts and create paid campaigns through Meta. Assist with selecting audiences, geographic areas, interests, and other targeting criteria for paid social media campaigns. Track campaign performance and prepare clear summaries of results. Content Creation Take high-quality photos and short-form videos for social media. Move between client sites, events, businesses, and commercial districts to gather content. Walk through business districts to identify stories, photograph businesses, capture activity, and document events or placemaking improvements. Create social media graphics using Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or similar design tools. Edit short-form video content for Instagram Reels, Facebook, and other platforms. Identify interesting stories and activities that can be turned into engaging stories. Using software such as MailChimp and Constant Contact, write newsletters, short-form blog posts, event descriptions, business profiles, and other public-facing content. Review and proofread content carefully for grammar, spelling, accuracy, accessibility, and consistency. Occasionally appear on camera as a roving reporter, interviewer, or event host. On-camera experience is helpful but not required. Events, Placemaking, and Community Engagement Assist with planning and coordinating community events, business district activations, tabling opportunities, and placemaking projects. Help develop creative event, engagement, and placemaking concepts that reflect the needs and character of a community. Research and identify responsible, professional, and appropriate vendors, performers, instructors, exhibitors, and community partners. Communicate with vendors regarding schedules, event requirements, setup, insurance, permits, and required paperwork. Maintain organized vendor records, agreements, contact information, schedules, and event documents. Assist with event timelines, site plans, staffing plans, supply lists, and day-of-event logistics. Participate in event setup, tabling, attendee engagement, vendor support, and event breakdown. Represent Ani & Cat and its clients professionally at public meetings, business visits, community events, and other public-facing activities. Build positive relationships with business owners, community partners, vendors, and members of the public. Identify opportunities to promote local businesses, encourage participation, and strengthen connections between people and places. Qualifications Candidates should meet one of the following combinations of education and experience: A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, digital media, event management, hospitality, recreation management, community development, or a related field, plus at least three years of relevant professional experience; or At least five years of equivalent professional experience in social media, content creation, marketing, communications, community engagement, and events, or a closely related field. Required Skills and Experience A proven track record of growing and managing social media accounts. Experience creating and maintaining social media content calendars. Strong creative campaign development and brainstorming skills. Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling abilities. Experience writing social media captions, newsletters, and short-form articles or blog posts. Experience taking photos and creating short-form video content. Basic graphic design skills and experience creating polished digital graphics. Experience using social media scheduling and management platforms such as Later, Hootsuite, or Meta Business Suite. Experience publishing and boosting posts through Meta. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients, assignments, deadlines, and event details. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with a wide range of people. Good judgment, discretion, decorum, and attention to detail. A hospitality-oriented approach to working with businesses, community members, event attendees, and partners. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and identify compelling content opportunities in the field. Ability to follow brand standards, client requirements, and approval processes. Ability to maintain accurate files, calendars, contact lists, and project records. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing and managing paid social media campaigns. Experience selecting and refining audiences for social media advertising. Experience interpreting social media analytics and preparing performance reports. Experience coordinating public events, community programs, business district activities, or placemaking projects. Experience sourcing and coordinating vendors, performers, instructors, or exhibitors. Experience collecting contracts, insurance documents, permits, tax forms, or other vendor paperwork. On-camera, interviewing, hosting, or public speaking experience. Familiarity with accessibility practices for social media, including alt text, captions, readable graphics, and plain-language communication. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or similar creative software. Physical and Transportation Requirements This is an active, field-based position that requires regular local movement between client locations and event sites. The employee must be able to: Reliably travel between businesses, commercial districts, event locations, and client sites. Walk through business districts for extended periods while gathering photos, video, interviews, and other content. Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Stand and walk for extended periods during events. Carry typical event, tabling, photography, or content-production supplies. Assist with event setup and breakdown, including moving lightweight tables, signage, displays, and supplies. Work occasional evenings and weekends based on event and client schedules.
