Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Intern to support and expand Wafer's digital presence. This role focuses on increasing audience engagement, building community awareness, and driving online donations through strategic and compelling content. The ideal candidate is passionate about social impact, storytelling and leveraging social platforms to inspire action. Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in planning, scheduling and executing social media campaigns aligned with organizational goals
- Create engaging content (graphics, captions, short videos, stories) for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X (Twitter)
- Monitor / analyze social media channels, respond to comments/messages, and foster community interaction
- Track engagement metrics (likes, shares, comments, click throughs etc.) and provide insights for improvement
- Support fundraising initiatives by promoting donation campaigns and events
- Collaborate with team to highlight impact stories, volunteer opportunities, and donor recognition
- Stay up to date with social media trends and recommend innovative ideas to increase reach and engagement in target markets
Qualifications:
- Candidates should be pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or Nonprofit management or related field
- Strong written communication and storytelling skills
- Working knowledge of major social media platforms and industry best practices
- Basic knowledge of design tools (Adobe, Canva, etc.) is a plus
- Passion for nonprofit work and community impact
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able handle multiple tasks
- High degree of integrity, strong work ethic and honesty
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with social media analytics tools
- Basic video editing skills
- Ability to adapt tone and messaging to varied audiences
