The Media Specialist & Content Strategist serves as KUB's primary public spokesperson and leads communications for emergency preparedness and real-time incident response. This includes but is not limited to developing and maintaining relationships with local and industry media, serving as KUB's on-camera representative in media interviews, coordinating interviews with subject matter experts, pitching news articles/segments, and writing news releases. This position serves as KUB's Public Information Officer during large-scale emergency events and leads timely customer & public updates during smaller utility outage or operational events. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining media and emergency response resources, drafting and delivering timely updates across media and digital channels, and ensuring coordinated messaging during fast-moving situations. This position serves as KUB's primary media contact during regular business hours and during utility outage events and incidents after hours. The Media Specialist & Content Strategist also serves as a corporate communications content writer and editor for social media, website content, mailings, newsletters, presentations, award applications, and more.Qualifications Physical Requirements:
This position is primarily sedentary and performed in a typical office environment. Duties involve sitting most of the time with occasional walking or standing. The role may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of items up to 10 pounds. Bending, stooping, or reaching may occasionally be required. Physical demands may vary by position and may occasionally exceed those described above.Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field such as Communications, Journalism, or Broadcasting Five (5)+ years of related work experience On-camera interview and public spokesperson experience Strong written and oral communication skills Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines Strong initiative and attention to detail, along with fact-finding or research experience Skill and resourcefulness to work independently on projects in a timely manner Ability and effectiveness to work cooperatively and respond to inquiries in a timely manner Competency and thoroughness to maintain quality and accuracy of work Basic knowledge of and experience following AP style guidelines and the ability to learn and follow KUB style guidelines Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint Photography skills Availability for after-hours incident response Valid driver's license Please note that due to job responsibilities, KUB does not provide immigration sponsorship for and/or based on this position.Preferred Requirements:
Ten (10) or more years of related work experience, preferably in a media or public relations role Experience with leading content strategy Videography skills Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Adobe inDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) Experience with Canva, Hootsuite, and similar programs Selection Process About theSelection Process:
