Job Title:
Material Handler / Floorperson Job Description The Material Handler / Floorperson safely moves, prepares, and stages materials to support production and customer needs. This role uses forklifts and other material handling equipment to place and retrieve products, prepares raw materials according to job specifications, and maintains clean, efficient work areas. The position combines hands-on material preparation with occasional forklift operation in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Place and retrieve products from designated storage areas using forklifts and other material handling equipment to ensure production and customer requirements are met. Receive incoming materials and products, and load and unload trucks as needed. Prepare materials for production by identifying required materials, mixing materials to job specifications, and ensuring correct quantities and blends. Measure, weigh, mark, label, count, blend, track, calculate shot weight, record, inspect, verify, package, and palletize a wide variety of products and materials. Operate dryers at the correct temperature to prepare raw materials and ensure proper moisture levels using a moisture analyzer. Maintain the cleanliness of all material handling equipment to prevent material contamination. Check forklifts and other equipment periodically for proper operation and perform routine maintenance and cleaning as needed. Monitor product quality during material handling and preparation and resolve unusual operating conditions appropriately. Adjust work schedule and duties as needed to support changing production and facility needs. Use RF scanners and related tools to pick, pack, and track inventory accurately. Support shipping and receiving activities, including order picking, loading, unloading, and staging materials. Operate pallet jacks, sit-down and stand-up forklifts, and other power industrial equipment safely and efficiently. Follow written work instructions in English and adhere to all safety and quality procedures. Perform general labor tasks as required to support production and material flow. Complete all other duties as assigned to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Essential Skills Ability to read and understand written work instructions in English. Basic computer skills to enter, track, and verify material and production information. Basic math skills to measure, weigh, count, and calculate material quantities and shot weights. Minimum of six months fork truck (forklift) experience. Ability to manually lift and move products and materials up to 55 lbs through regular physical exertion. Ability to reach forward and overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend throughout the shift. Ability to use a power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and steering a truck. Ability to walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks. Ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs. Ability to see, inspect, and evaluate product quality. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, including hot and humid conditions. Ability to walk up and down steps and climb ladders and stairs of varying heights. Willingness to wear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective footwear, hearing protection, protective eyewear, gloves, and any additional PPE required by specific tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferred education: High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred experience:
One year of forklift experience in a warehouse setting. Experience with materials handling in production, manufacturing, construction, or similar environments. Experience using RF scanners for inventory, picking, and packing. Experience with shipping and receiving, order picking, loading, unloading, and packaging. Comfortably operate pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Ability to follow detailed job specifications and maintain accurate records. Comfort working with power tools and hand tools as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role operates in a manufacturing setting across two different buildings dedicated to material handling. One area is a typical plastics factory environment, while another side of the building can become warm during the summer, and the overall environment is not climate-controlled, including hot and humid conditions. Standard shift hours run Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., with the possibility of other shifts available upon request, and overtime may be offered based on production needs. The position requires frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, and handling materials throughout the shift. Employees must wear task-based PPE, including metatarsal or molders' protective footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and any additional protective equipment required for specific tasks. The dress code is casual but safety-focused, with no shorts or cut-off sleeves allowed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Le Sueur, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
