Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Lead Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Lead oversees daily warehouse operations to ensure materials and products are received, stored, and shipped safely, accurately, and on time. This role supports production and customer fulfillment by managing incoming materials, issuing raw materials and packaging to production, preparing finished goods for shipment, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The position operates in a cGMP-regulated environment and requires strict adherence to FDA, DOT, OSHA, and internal SOP requirements while using material-handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities, prioritizing tasks to meet production and customer deadlines. Oversee the receipt, inspection, labeling, storage, and issuance of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods. Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare finished goods for shipment, including picking, packing, staging, and loading orders for internal and external customers. Review and manage shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, packing lists, and returns documentation, to ensure accuracy and compliance. Perform and support cycle counts, inventory transactions, and discrepancy resolution to maintain accurate inventory control. Ensure efficient picking, packing, and distribution processes that support production schedules and customer requirements. Maintain a safe, compliant warehouse environment in alignment with OSHA, cGMP, FDA, DOT, and internal SOP standards. Ensure safe operation of material-handling equipment and verify that team members receive proper training and certification. Train, mentor, and support warehouse team members, serving as the primary point of contact for questions, issues, and escalations. Identify process inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and service levels. Participate in cross-functional projects with production, quality, and logistics teams to improve warehouse performance and customer service. Support general labor tasks as needed, including loading, unloading, sorting, and organizing materials and products. Coordinate logistics activities with carriers and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time shipment and delivery. Promote a strong safety culture by following and reinforcing proper procedures for lifting, equipment use, and handling of materials, including hazardous materials where applicable. Essential Skills High school diploma or
GED. 3-5
years of experience in a warehouse, shipping and receiving, or distribution environment. Previous experience in a lead, coordinator, or informal leadership role. Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations, including oversight of daily warehouse activities. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders. Basic computer and data entry skills for inventory transactions and documentation. Experience with QAD or other inventory control systems. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent physical activity, including walking, bending, and lifting. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver up to 100 lbs safely. Knowledge of general logistics and inventory control principles. Ability to work safely in a cGMP-regulated environment and follow established procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in an FDA-regulated or cGMP-compliant environment. Familiarity with DOT and hazardous material shipping requirements. Hazmat endorsement and/or hazardous material shipping certification. Forklift certification and hands-on experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks. Previous experience training, mentoring, or developing team members. Experience with continuous improvement or lean methodologies. Ability to pass a DOT physical. Experience driving a box truck. Demonstrated leadership development and management skills. Experience with logistics coordination and inventory management in a production or factory setting. Why Work Here? The position involves standing for extended periods, frequent walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and maneuvering up to 100 lbs, as well as handling materials and finished goods throughout the shift. The environment is fast paced and deadline driven, with close coordination between warehouse, production, and logistics teams. Safety is a core focus, with structured procedures for equipment operation, material handling, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Dress typically aligns with a production or warehouse setting, appropriate for a factory and distribution environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Le Sueur, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
