Quality Engineer Position Summary The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role involves developing and implementing quality procedures, performing root cause analysis, driving corrective actions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote continuous improvement. The Quality Engineer will play a key role in maintaining compliance with industry standards and supporting the company's commitment to delivering high-quality products to customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems, procedures, and documentation in compliance with customer and industry requirements. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure manufacturability and quality compliance. Conduct inspections, audits, and testing to verify product and process conformance. Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities. Work closely with engineering, production, and suppliers to resolve quality issues. Maintain and analyze quality metrics, identifying trends and recommending improvements. Support new product introduction (NPI) through quality planning, risk assessments, and control plans. Develop and update inspection plans, work instructions, and quality documentation. Support customer audits, supplier audits, and certification processes. Provide training to employees on quality standards, processes, and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field. 2-5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with precision machining, plastics, or metal fabrication is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of quality systems and tools (FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA, control plans, etc.). Familiarity with ISO 9001, and, or other relevant quality management systems. Proficiency in CAD and GD&T interpretation. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively across departments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Routinely able to:
Manually lift and move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck Walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks Push/pull up to 100 lbs. See, inspect, handle and evaluate product quality Read and understand written English language work instructions Work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions Climb ladders and stairs of varying heights Wear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by LSI Protective Footwear Hearing Protection Protective Eyewear Gloves Additional PPE may as required by specific tasks
