Videos Duties Help Receives, examines and determines the condition and disposition of a wide variety of merials. Reviews disposal turn-in document accompanying merial. Compares da against property assuring correct informion and proper documention (e.g. stock number, nomenclure, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL, condition code). Visually inspects usable property for obvious signs of condition and determines acceptability. Determines condition and reportability and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous merial, precious metals, security, DEMIL, Special focus items, etc.) and assigns approprie classificion instructions for warehousing. Verifies accuracy of demilitarizion codes, takes action to challenge questionable items/codes, and maintains segreged storage of property requiring DEMIL. Ensures proper certificion is tached to turn-in document when demilitarized by host or genering activity. Performs special and periodic inventory of property; re-palletizes/re-loces property as necessary. Operes forklifts and reled merials handling equipment to move, load and unload, stack or un-stack palletized merials, supplies, and equipment. Qualificions To qualify for a Merials Examiner and Identifier (FLO) your resume and supporting documention must support: Applicants red in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualificion Standard for Trades and Labor Occupions. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training th you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) elimined from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualificions for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Merials Examiner and Identifier (FLO) without more than normal supervision (Screen Out Element): Perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision such as: moves, stores and picks a variety of merials; loads and handles merial and determines how items are to be received and identified. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be found well-qualified as an ICTAP applicant, individuals need to demonstre the ability to perform the common tasks of the job to be filled as well as more complex duties such as: compares da against accompanying documents and notes discrepancies; inspects and determines condition of usable property; verifies accuracy of demilitarizion codes; assigns classificion instructions for warehousing; identifies and segreges property according to classificion; re-warehouses merials.
Physical Effort:
Performs modere to heavy lifting when moving merial by hand or hand-truck. They may lift or carry items th weigh up to 50 lb. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Performs work on hard surfaces, over rough terrain and on forklifts. Assignments require prolonged working in tiring and uncomfortable positions, standing, walking, bending, stooping and pushing and pulling merial.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed inside warehouses th may be hot, cold, damp and drafty and in outside areas, i.e., dock areas, scrap yards, or other areas exposed to varying weher conditions. Is exposed to physical hazards normally associed with scrap yard, open storage, and warehouse operions including various kinds of merial handling equipment and hand and power tools. Wears safety equipment as required. Incumbent must exercise precautions to avoid injury to/from carelessness of others in operion of fork lifts and other equipment in the work area.
SAFETY AND HEALTH RESPONSIBILITIES
As a condition of employment, incumbent shall adhere to all safety standards, rules, regulions, and procedures and use personal protective equipment and devices as required and work in a safe and healthful manner. Must remain continually aware of the necessity for job safety and health precautions. Must immediely report all occupional mishaps, illnesses, and injuries to supervisor on day of occurrence. Reports and corrects, where possible, unsafe and un-healthful conditions to supervisor. Any person(s) performing the duties in this position description may be required to participe in a medical surveillance program. Inclusion in the medical surveillance program determined by the DLA Disposition Services Safety and Occupional Health Manager, in conjunction with the host industrial hygienist/bio-environmentalist.
