Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Materials Manager to lead our materials management operations with energy and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end procurement, inventory control, and supply chain activities to ensure seamless manufacturing and production processes. Your leadership will drive efficiency, optimize resource utilization, and foster strong supplier relationships, all while maintaining compliance with industry standards. The Materials Manager reports directly to the Materials Division Manager, and will be responsible for production planning, plant scheduling, Inventory Control, and the procurement of materials. The Materials Manager will manage our Warehouse Team, Procurement Team, and Production Control Team to deliver products to our customers on time while optimizing cost, quality and equipment utilization. Essential Duties Responsible for the effective execution of critical manufacturing site support activities including Receiving, Production Scheduling, Materials Purchasing, and Inventory Control. Develop production schedules that meet customer requirements and optimize plant production efficiency. Ensure correct materials are on hand to support production requirements while optimizing inventory levels and procurement costs. Manage site receiving, material storage, and inter-plant movement activities for effective facility space utilization, labor efficiency, and material flow. Maintain accurate and timely records of materials received, issued, moved, produced, and stored into and out of the facility. Execute regular inventory counts, cycle counts, reconciliations, and adjustments to keep the inventory system accurate. Maintain and utilize ERP system to execute materials management processes including purchasing, production scheduling, and inventory management. Develop and monitor performance of the materials management functions through the creation of regular reports and metrics. Develop action plans for opportunities and enlist the appropriate team members and partners to drive improvement. Partner with other site functional leaders to identify and implement improvements in shared areas of accountability in support of excellence in overall site performance
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Materials Management team at the site level, including: Scheduling Procurement Warehouse Inventory Control Lead and coordinate procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management to secure quality materials at optimal costs. Oversee inventory management processes utilizing ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS to maintain accurate stock levels and reduce waste. Develop and implement demand planning and production scheduling strategies aligned with manufacturing needs using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) tools. Manage supply chain logistics, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to ensure timely delivery of materials across all facilities. Monitor supplier performance through regular evaluations, fostering strong partnerships that support continuous improvement in quality and delivery. Drive lean manufacturing initiatives by streamlining materials flow, reducing excess inventory, and enhancing overall operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with safety standards, contractual obligations, and industry regulations related to materials handling and storage. Skills Extensive experience with ERP systems for procurement, inventory control, and supply chain management. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, demand forecasting, and materials management principles. Proven ability in supplier management, contract negotiation, and purchasing strategies that optimize costs while maintaining quality. Expertise in logistics operations including warehouse management, transportation coordination, and warehouse experience.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related major is required. A minimum of 5-7 years' supervisory or management experience in production, scheduling or logistics operations is required. A solid understanding of warehouse operations, supply chain, scheduling, cost management, and transportation is necessary.Pay:
