Mechanic

Job Summary:

AuSable Trans & Gear is seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic to join our team in Oscoda, MI. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, with a focus on transmissions and drivetrain systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in automotive repair, and committed to providing high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose mechanical issues using appropriate testing equipment Repair and rebuild transmissions (automatic and manual) Perform general automotive repairs, including brakes, suspension, and engine work Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, and inspections Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper performance Maintain a clean and organized work environment Communicate clearly with team members and management regarding repair status

Qualifications:

Prior experience as an automotive or transmission mechanic preferred Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, especially transmissions and drivetrains Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment Valid driver's license required Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical task
