Job Description
Mechanical Engineer Autoquip Corporation has an immediate opportunity for a mechanical engineer (BSME / BSMET) to be part of our innovative and highly-skilled engineering team. Requirements:
A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with mechanical and structural design experience in an engineer-to-order or complex manufacturing environment. Experience and efficiency using a 3D modeling software package such as ProE or Solidworks is required and a working knowledge of a formal MRP/ERP system is preferable.Reports To:
Engineering ManagerPRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Mechanical Engineer for Autoquip, you will be responsible for the development of custom solutions in an engineered-to-order, complex manufacturing environment. This includes the actual design, drawings, and BOM.- Design may include: o Options for standard products. o Modification of standard products. o Custom designs (Size/travel/capacity). o Customer supplied component integration.
- Drawings may include: o Customer application layout for approval. o Final approved for record. o Part/assembly.
- BOM may include: o Existing/new parts. o Setting up the operations (routing). o Operation/purchased/component special comments. o Attached drawings.
- Perform mechanical design calculations, also extensive use of CAD (SolidWorks) and ERP (Epicor).
- Must be able to follow procedures, as well as rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Work with cross functional teams providing technical support for the life of the design from shop to installation and older equipment out in the field.
SKILLS /ABILITIES
- The ideal candidate will have a hands-on mentality and problem solving skills. A certain level of creativity and latitude is required.
- A mechanical aptitude that says, "I may not know the answer now, but I will figure it out."
- A desire to understand what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how/what it affects.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
