Job Description

The person who will be successful in this position is a self-starter who is able to keep the big picture in mind while managing their time, actions and attitude. Must be able to genuinely care and engage with our prospects, their families and the residents at Town and Country Manor, and be comfortable carrying out our mission: "To demonstrate the care, love, and hope of Jesus Christ to senior adults."
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to be neat, clean and appropriately dressed to present an appearance acceptable to residents and the public; in accordance with the employee handbook. Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm, effective manner. Ability to work cooperatively with all facility department supervisors and administration, families, physicians, consultants and service providers Ability to follow fire and disaster procedures during a drill and actual occurrence. Ability to handle all correspondence assigned. Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with facility staff. Ability to accept and perform assigned duties in a cooperative manner from your supervisor. Ability to perform other related duties as assigned from your supervisor. Ability to follow established performance standards and perform duties according to policies and procedures. Ability to assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures. Ability to identify special resident problems and report them immediately to Nursing Supervisor or Director. Ability to provide direct resident care as assigned. Ability to identify safety hazards and emergency situations, and initiate corrective action. Ability to participate in facility education programs as assigned. Ability to attend all classes as assigned and complete assignments. Ability to assume personal responsibility for following facility procedures related to control of equipment and supplies within the unit. Ability to assume accountability for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the unit assigned and within his/her span of control. Ability to report unusual problems or incidents to Nursing Supervisor or Director. Ability to document incidents and/or unusual problems according to established facility procedures. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situation with only occasional or no variables. Ability to report changes in residents' conditions to Nursing Supervisor or Director. Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English. Ability to maintain records of services performed. Ability to work as a team; help other employees on all three floors (each shift) share job responsibilities. Ability to log in all the medications received from the pharmacy. Ability to make narcotic count sheet and count all narcotic medications between each shift Ability to come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality so that the leaving employee is able to give you a report of activity for the day. Ability to give showers as ordered. Assist resident with hearing aids. (AM shift, aids in; PM shift, aids out.) Ability to listen to resident and family complaints and report them to Nursing Supervisor or Director. Ability to answer call-lights. Ability to give care to assigned residents, i.e. bathe, dress and groom. Ability to serve trays and/or food, following special prescribed diet and remove them when finished. Ability to change incontinent residents and walk ambulatory residents. Ability to change bed linens and sort through residents' soiled clothing. Ability to take residents to the dining room and assist if needed. Ability to accompany residents outside Assisted Living, serving as guide, companion and aide. Ability to assist residents in activity programs. Ability to be responsible for the safety of residents. Ability to use proper transfer techniques. Qualifications To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must clear DOJ/FBI Background check. Must pass drug and health screenings. Education and/or Experience First Aid and CPR certified within one week after starting in Caregiver position. Med Tech certification is required to be completed within one week after position start date. Annual recertification is required prior to the expiring of current certification. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, residents, family members, employees, and the general public. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand fluent English. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, grasp, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and balance of physical equilibrium to prevent falling of self, others or of objects being carried. The employee occasionally must lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. •Professional references may be contacted prior to interview.
