Job Description

Job Summary:
This position requires direct patient communication, critical thinking and problem solving. The medical assistant works closely with the clinician and staff. The medical assistant provides clinical knowledge to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. The medical assistant exhibits initiative, is compatible and supportive; and displays team cohesiveness.
Clinical Duties And Responsibilities:
Using an electronic medical record system to record patient intake, obtain patient consents, updating the patient medical record and assisting the clinician in scribing patient visit notes Preparing and packaging patient specimens, sterilizing instruments, handling biohazardous material and adhering to universal precautions Assist the clinician in performing surgeries, procedures and therapies to include but not limited to Mohs surgery, excisions, biopsies, and chemical peels. Organizes exam rooms, including general cleaning, upkeep, and performs administrative tasks, including form completions, prescription refills, referrals and patient educational material, ordering and restocking supplies. Demonstrates appropriate hand washing technique to ensure proper infection control and follows universal precautions.
Administrative Duties And Responsibilities:
. Creating appointments, verifying patient demographics and insurance information, and receiving patient payments Answering phones, documenting patient communications and tasks Assists with scheduling, rescheduling and confirming appointments. Obtains prior authorizations and lab results Assists with other related front-desk clerical duties to include but not limited to scanning, faxing, and mailing
