JOB TITLE
Medical Coordinator Wage:
$75,000.00/year 5-day work weeks, though days off are not often on the weekends. Spanish language proficiency is also required Overview The Medical Coordinator uses sound medical and professional judgement to support the overall health and wellbeing of unaccompanied children and youth ages 10-17. Children are residing in a 24-hour shelter setting funded by the Office of Refugee and Resettlement (ORR). The Medical Coordinator schedules medical appointments, documents doctor's orders, and ensures that prescribed medication is self-administered by children in a timely manner according to prescriptions. The Medical Coordinator must ensure compliance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) licensing standards, and ORR contract requirements. Must ensure the use of child friendly, trauma informed interviewing during all interactions with youth. Must strictly enforce and adhere to the Office of Refugee Resettlement's (ORR) Zero Tolerance Policy to prevent the abuse and neglect of unaccompanied minors and adhere to all relevant ORR policies and procedures always ensuring the personal safety of the children and youth being served.Duties :
Ensures timely medical and dental examinations are provided for children and youth adhering to state and federal requirements. Gathers a comprehensive medical history, Conducts/facilitates COVID testing as needed, Captures vital signs (blood pressure check, pulse, breathing rate, temperature check, etc.),including height and weight check and checks for any irregularities (such as: rash, blisters, infestation etc..) and documents in children's medical chart. Documents medical conditions and medications administered in the UC Portal and internal software system. Data entry of initial medical exam, follow up assessment and all specialty provider visits in UC portal as assigned Ensures follow-up medical appointments for medical care are completed timely. Coordinates transportation with Shift Leaders and/or Shift Supervisors for transportation. May need to contact 911 for emergency medical care, and/or coordinate transportation services for medical care for children and youth.STANDARD REQUIREMENTS
Be a brand ambassador and always reflect company values. Must be 21 years of age or older to work directly with youth. Must maintain any licenses/certifications during employment and/or obtain within required timeframes, if approved. Complete the National Certification for Residential Care Professionals within approved timeframes and maintain certification annually, if required. Ensure completion of On-the-Job Training requirements. Meets dress code/uniform standards; appearance is neat and clean. Complete any training requirements including Managing Aggressive Behavior/NRCYS and CPR/First AidEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 1 year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care AND either of these:- LPN/LVN or higher health-related qualification (e.g., Licensed RN with Bachelor's)
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
ALSO:
- 1 year of experience working with youth is required.
- Active license/certification for Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Spanish language proficiency is also required Ability to read, analyze, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from sponsors, family members, other program staff, state licensing representatives, and ORR/Federal Field Staff as needed. Ability to speak, read and write in English language is required. Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish is required, other languages may be considered depending on program needs.
