Job Description
Summary This position is responsible for providing quality, proficient and professional laboratory services in a critical access hospital and outpatient setting. The MLT/MLS position collects and processes specimens using appropriate technique, performs testing and verifies assay/analyzer performance. This position is responsible for testing in all of the following areas: hematology, coagulation, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis and transfusion medicine. Additional responsibilities include documentation and communication of laboratory results, and assay/analyzer maintenance. Typical Schedule Casual Qualifications Minimum of associate degree in a lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, required. Qualified to work in a high complex laboratory, required. Laboratory certification such as ASCP or AMT. If not certified at time of hire, must acquire certification within 12 months, required. At least one year of experience required. Responsibilities
- Collect and process specimens using appropriate technique.
- Perform testing and verify assay/analyzer performance.
- Responsible for testing in any of the following areas: hematology, coagulation, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis and transfusion medicine.
- Document and communicate lab test results thoroughly and accurately.
- Perform and document assay/analyzer maintenance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Ability to multitask, work under pressure while maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to use time efficiently.
- Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members and co-workers.
- Knowledge and understanding of computer systems including EMR, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Demonstrates awareness of organizational goals/strategic plan in all daily work environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality per policy.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team.
- Ability to solve problems efficiently.
